10am and the temperature in my groom room....
******* GROOMS FOR THE REST OF THE DAY HAVE BEEN RESCHEDULED *******
Dogs welfare is my number one priority so the decision has been made with this in mind... Please remember it's not something I want to do with being self employed if I don't work I don't make money so the decision is not made for my benefit π
Some reminders on what to do when it's warm with your furry friend
* Walk them as early or as late as you can... Avoiding midday and hot pavements as much as possible
* Short walks will not do them any harm in the short term (it's Scotland we don't get this weather a lot!)
* Always have cold drinking water available
* White or light coloured dogs should wear a dog friendly sunscreen
* Dark colours especially black absorb the sun quicker so keep this in mind !
* HEAT STROKE KILLS - if your dog is showing signs of heat distress DO NOT shower them in freezing cold water, this can cause them to go into shock! Cover them in a COOL damp towel, keep them in shade, use a fan if you can... The main artery runs on the inside of the back legs so using a cool damp towel on this area can help cool the dogs core temperature
* Dogs love frozen treats too ... Use ice cube moulds to freeze bone broth or pureed fruits and vegetables or freeze whole carrots to give them a cool treat on sunny days ! π
