***This popped up in my fb memories from 2022, but is deffo worth mentioning again. There’s not many situations where I’d advise to “Be more Kidda…”, the little angry weirdo that he was 😆😊***
Unfortunately, in my experience, people do take offence and as my default position is to ruminate over historical situations where I may or may not have slighted your friend’s aunt’s sister in law 😁, I find this more difficult than it should be. Last week, in the seconds it took for the shop assistant to loom over the counter with a treat in hand, causing Kidda to freeze and switch on his hard stare I was too slow to act; though I commend the man for his nimbleness as he shot backwards in response to wor lad upping the ante with a piercing bark. Kidda’s communication was clear… it went ignored until he barked but it was quick and clear and would have been unnecessary if I’d advocated for him that little bit sooner with a step forward and a “Please don’t ….. you huge, presuming, pig-ignorant, cheap dog treat wielding Sasquatch!” - Only two of the preceding words are mine, the rest are a pretty reliable translation of Kidda’s sentiments 😆. My take away lesson: Be more Kidda so he can be less!
What a great infographic from Irwin Dog Training!
If you have an anxious, fearful or overwhelmed dog, step in and be it’s advocate. This will build fantastic trust between the two of you, and grow your dogs confidence.
Dogs aren’t public property. People don’t have the right to touch your dog, regardless of how cute they are, or how well they think they know dogs.
Speak up for your dog, they will love you for it!
