Time for a 💡

This week, we'd like to introduce you to the lovely Belle, a 6 year old Cane Corso who could live with children aged 10+. She needs to be the only dog in the home, but could potentially live with cats or other small animals, although we have no history of her behaviour around such animals.

Belle is a delightful girl who has an absolute pleasure to spend time with during her stay here. She absolutely loves human company and loves being made a fuss of – she is a very friendly girl who is happy to say hello to everyone in the hopes that they might give her a stroke! She also will sometimes enjoy playing with toys – although being made a fuss of is definitely her priority!

Belle has shown that she can be comfortable with other dogs here at the shelter, but she can sometimes get frustrated around them which can be displayed as reactivity. For this reason, we feel she would prefer to be the only dog in the home, but she may benefit from being socialised with other dogs when out and about.

We have no doubt she will make an absolutely wonderful addition to her forever home and will return her family’s love and affection tenfold.

Back in 1859, Newcastle made history by hosting the world’s very first organised dog show.

It took place at the old Town Hall (then called the New Corn Market), where sixty Pointers and Setters were judged.

The prize? Well unlike Crufts, the winners didn’t get a trophy but instead were presented with a shotgun!
