We provide the wellbeing benefits of access to horses to those who wouldn't otherwise have the opportunity. Stepney Bank Stables Equestrian and Activity Club (EAC) is an inner-city project working with horses as part of the team to help young people develop across a broad spectrum of personal and social skills such as resilience, confidence, positive self-esteem and employability skills. The EAC w

elcomes youngsters aged between 8 and 18 to take part in a range of activities such as workshops, tackling issues like bullying, county lines, and healthy relationships, in addition to team building events and excursions. As well as all of this, they also help look after the horses for the British Horse Society approved riding school and help Instructors with lessons. All of the activities are run by a team of well-qualified, enthusiastic equestrian and youth staff who take pride in seeing the club members blossom under their care. The EAC has been recognised multiple times including the Queen’s Jubilee Award. The riding school has a range of well-mannered horses and ponies who work with our superb, qualified instructors to help our customers learn all about how to ride. There are also opportunities to undertake Association of British Riding School and British Horse Society qualifications and some of our young people take part in external competitions.

🐴 Ride Safe training 🐴

The BHS Ride Safe program is designed to help riders navigate a variety of environments safely, including roads🚗, beaches🏖️ and countryside🍃 whilst interacting with other route users responsibly. Ideal for anyone thinking of getting their own horse or a loan horse.

We will be offering two 2 hour training sessions on Thursday 17th September 5.30-7.30 and Thursday 25th 5.30-7.30. Both sessions are required to complete the award.

The cost is £75 per person. The price includes assessment and booklet. The minimum age for participation is 11 and riders must be level 3 or above. External candidates welcome but you must book an assessment session first.

We’ve been closed for the last 3 days to get some VERY important jobs done!

✅ the back yard has been resurfaced and is the most beautiful thing we’ve ever seen (the first horse to 💩 on it will break our hearts 😂)

✅ we’ve removed bars between stables so horses can touch each other. Social contact is vital for wellbeing 🧡.

✅ 2 new huge stables (which can be opened to create one MEGA stable) has been built at top yard and populated with new arrival Penny! Welcome Penny 🤎

✅ pony barn now has a sandpit so that our ponies can choose between sand, shavings, rubber and straw as surface options🐴.

✅ the team have had time together to discuss lesson plans, coaching strategies and reviewed feedback to ensure we are providing the best service possible to all of our user groups. We’ve also looked at our individual strengths and where we can focus our efforts to get even better! 💪

We’re ready to hit the ground running tomorrow as we welcome our Alternative Provision students and resume evening lessons.

After a long summer break, we’re getting ready to welcome our Changing Lives Through Horses learners back — and we can’t wait to see you!

We know that returning after a long break can feel different for everyone. Some of you might be excited to come back, while others might feel a little nervous or unsure about what to expect. And for our new starters, there may be lots of questions about your first day.

Over the summer, we’ve made some changes to our building, so we’ve put together this short video to give you a sneak peek at what’s different before you arrive.

We know that, for some learners, being able to see changes to a familiar environment in advance can help make returning feel a little more predictable and comfortable.

So have a look, take your time, and remember — you don’t need to remember everything you see. We’ll be here to help you when you arrive.

Most importantly, we’re really looking forward to seeing you… and the horses and ponies are definitely ready to welcome you back too! 🧡
