🐕🐈⬛A slightly delayed Happy New Year to all our clients and patients.🐰🐹
As many of you will have seen from Neil’s recent post, he officially retired from the practice on the 3rd of January. The comments say it all — he will be greatly missed by clients, patients, and staff alike.
A little bit about me: I’m Rachael Yost, a highly experienced small animal vet who graduated from Edinburgh University in 2007, and I’ve now been in practice for nearly 20 years. Many of you will already know me from my part‑time work at Metrovets over the past decade, supporting Neil’s busy caseload and helping ensure he could take some much‑needed time off.
Because of this, I know this practice, I know the people, I know the staff — and most importantly, I know the level of care and attention that you, our clients and patients, expect, deserve, and have always received from both Neil and myself.
My goal as the new owner is to maintain those high standards, get to know all our loyal clients, and continue developing the practice so we can keep providing the very best independent veterinary care in the North East.
You will continue to see the same dedicated reception and nursing team, and our opening hours remain unchanged. There are no alterations to our IT systems, so we have full access to all medical histories and client information exactly as before.
I want to wish Neil all the very best with his upcoming surgery and his travels to visit his boys. It has been a pleasure working alongside him for the past 10 years.
I wanted to put a message up at the end of my first week but unfortunately I slipped on the ice on Friday 9th Jan on my way to work. After a morning of consults I took at trip to minor injuries where I discovered I had fractured my leg, which led to a week‑long stay at the RVI. Not quite how I wanted my new year or business venture to begin!🤕🦵
I now have some new metalwork holding me together and will be back at work as soon as I’m permitted by the doctors. In the meantime, we have some wonderful vets stepping to work alongside our longstanding reception and nursing team so we can continue caring for your pets without interruption.
We are committed to making this transition as smooth as possible and are extremely grateful for your continued trust in Metrovets. If you have any questions or concerns, please email the practice at [email protected], and I will personally review them.
For appointments and prescription requests, please continue to use [email protected].
I look forward to meeting many new faces over the coming months and truly appreciate the support and kindness shown by clients over the past couple of weeks both with the new ownership and my accident.
