Ive been neglecting this site for some time.but I am now a volunteer with dog and cat shelter,my aim is also to help support them in the amazing job they do with unwanted pets.My aim at the moment is to boost their supply of bedding and cleaning towels ,dog beds cushions..basically anything that can help make the dogs life a bit more comfy..I know there a lots and lots of loving caring people out there who would help,they are not able to take a pet but can offer support with donations of one kind or another...so if you have anything to offer them contact me or the dog and cat shelter Benton lane...I can pick up,or you can drop off.Any support will be appreciated by the staff and of course by the residents waiting for forever homes...go on have a look in your cupboards..bet you got stuff you don't need...;-)we would love it...woof woof ...miaow miaow..x

don forget guys and gals christmas is a time for giving but make sure the animals you give go to responible people...after all they are dependent on us as carers...theres nothing wrong with getting a dog for christmas as long as we know weve got it for the duration of its life....my holly came for christmas and we had 17 happy years with her......merry xmas to animal lovers everywhere...pat

i was given a recipe for home made treats today..my dogs love them...
packet of liver.....250gms oats....3 eggs...half spoon of garlic..mush the whole lot up then spread into a swiss roll tin and cook in the oven half hour or until it looks like flapjack....liver flapjack....yuk !but the dogs certainly like it...

some tips for new puppy owners...

get baby gates they are your friends..keeping the puppy out of places you dont want him to be..

supervise...

if you cant watch him like a hawk he must be in his room or crate..

Set up a room for when you cant supervise
pick a small area..bathroom ,kitchen,utility.
block it off with baby gate...bed in one side ..toilet at other..

an untrained puppy must never have the run of the house..

How Amazing!

Patches was due to be put down at a dog pound because no-one who could prove they knew him had come forward. That was until a dog foster carer called at the pound where 15-year-old Patches was being kept.
