This was one of many rabbits I’ve owned, but she was truly one of a kind. I found her and her bonded trio on a rescue page while I was on holiday in Scotland, and the second I saw them, I just knew they were meant to come home with me. I rang the rescue straight away, paid for them over the phone, and we drove over six hours in total just to bring them home.
Later, this little girl developed vertebral disc disease, a condition that affected her spine, movement, and mobility. As time went on she needed more and more support, but giving her that care never felt like a burden — she deserved every second of it.
I completely changed parts of my life around her needs. I adjusted her playpen so she was safe and comfortable, bathed her, constantly changed and washed her blankets, and even bought a dryer because I knew how much extra care she would need every single day. We spent so much time together that our bond became unbelievably close.
This picture was taken on the metro home one day when she suddenly leaned over and started kissing my cheek. I remember sitting there thinking how much love such a tiny little soul could hold.
Caring for her until the very end was one of the hardest but most meaningful things I’ve ever done. She wasn’t just a rabbit to me — she was family, my little shadow, and a piece of my heart that I’ll carry forever.
