Wilson didn’t just chase golf balls… he ate one. ⛳️

After feeling unwell and vomiting, his family brought him in and our team found part of a golf ball stuck in his intestine. Two surgeries later, this brave spaniel is back home and well. 💚

Dogs (and cats!) are experts at eating things they shouldn’t – from balls and toys to socks and stones.

If your pet is suddenly vomiting, off their food or just “not themselves”, don’t wait and see. Call your vet and get them checked.

Head RVN, this one’s for you. 🐶🐱

We’re Strachan Vets — a proudly independent small animal practice with branches in Heaton and Tynemouth, and our nursing team has a Head RVN seat with your name on it.

What we’re looking for is an RCVS-registered RVN with solid clinical skills and at least 3 years’ experience, who’s confident leading a nursing team, developing protocols, mentoring others, and helping keep our standards of care high across both sites. Proven leadership experience as a Head RVN, or previous experience leading a veterinary nursing team, is essential.

What we’re offering isn’t just a title — it’s a 4-day week, fair pay, 5 weeks’ holiday plus bank holidays, paid RCVS & VDS, flexible CPD funding, staff pet discounts, and proper support from directors and a practice manager who are present and approachable.

We see heatstroke cases every summer 💔 and almost all of them could have been avoided.
It doesn’t have to be a heatwave – sometimes just a warm afternoon, a walk that went on a bit too long, or a few minutes in a parked car is enough for some dogs 🥵

Chunky pups, broad‑chested breeds, flat‑faced cuties (Bulldogs, Frenchies, Pugs), seniors and overweight dogs are at higher risk 🐶❤️
