🖤🤎SOCIALISATION🖤🤎

This is what correct socialisation looks like. Not all of it of course as there are so many different areas withing socialisation that needs covered with pups.

These were all firsts for Dash. First up we took the bus into town, next we walked through busy highstreets (no video on that as I am rubbish at videoing and training a pup at the same time) and then we chilled in the train station so he could get used to all the hussle and bustle.

Videos sped up to stop boredom but this is exactly the exposure that really helps young dogs.

Environmental exposures are so important along with neutrality around people and dogs.

👅🐕MEET SAL🐕👅

We had this adorable boy come and see us. His owners got in touch for help with loose leash walking, over excitement around dogs/people and general obedience.

Sal is the most adorable lad and he knows it. He is super friends with everything in the world and whilst this is sweet it can also make walks a headache as he would pull to get to anything passing him to say hello.

His general obedience is nice, but only if he thinks he is getting something put of it.

We started off the session by teaching him leash pressure and the correct walking position. His owners had already used rewards when out but as soon as he got his reward he would start pulling again so we moved straight into variable rewards to space them out and keep hin working hard for it.

Next we got our boy Shads out and had him working around him. Sal found this really hard as he was desperate to say hello but once he understood that we wanted him to ignore him he did really well. He needed help to understand how and when to disengage from a dog.

We will work more on his general obedience once his owners have worked on what was covered in the first session.

🐶🐾MEET GARY🐾🐶

We had Gary come and see us for help with reactivity. As soon as he got out the car he was scanning the environment and on high alert looking for dogs and would pull constantly on his lead.

As Gary was up a height he wouldn't take food and really wasn't bothered by it. We covered how to increase this so we can reward him for making good choices further down the line.

We started off by working on getting him to walk nicely by his owner and then once he was doing this we got Shads out for him to work around.

We concentrated on teaching him to disengage and not fixate and we were able to slowly reduce the distance.

Once he will take food outside we wkll progress a lot quicker as we will be able to reward him for making good choices.

🐕🐾MEET MAYA🐾🐕

We had this sweet girl come and see us for puppy training. Maya is a lovely girl but is very nervous and scared of rhe world.

Her owners were struggling to take her out as she would just want to bolt back home.

We went through correct socialisation so we could build up her confidence. Environmental exposure is crucial for a pup, especially at this age.

We then covered introducing rewards and markers so we can utilise these further down the line.

Finally we got our boy Shads out as she was very nervous around dogs and we wanted her to be around a dog that was calm and had good social manners It wasn't about having them run around like bambi together, more calmness when around another dog.

These guys have signed up to our Puppy Package so we can continue the work and get her as confident as possible.

🐕🐾MEET RAVEN🐾🐕

We had this sweet girl come and see us for puppy training.

During the session we covered rewards, markers, leash pressure and socialisation.

Raven was a bit of a puller so we've gone through ways to make it rewarding to stay closer to her owner and not pull through the pressure.

Her owner also mentioned she is nervous around dogs so we got our boy Shads out to help build her confidence and show her that a dog will respect her boundaries and not pester her.

🐶👅MEET BLUE👅🐶

We had this gorgeous boy come and see us for help with loose leash walking and dog reactivity.

When walking he was always at the and of the lead and when he saw a dog he would lunge. This was purely down to uncertainty and frustration.

His owners want to be able to take him everywhere but due to his behaviour it makes it very challenging.

We started off by going through ways to increase his food drive as he wont take rewards outside which means training will be more difficult.

Next we looked at his walking and worked on leash pressure and praise as a reward until his food drive has increased.

We then worked him around our boy Shads and taught him what we expected and to disengage from a dog rather than fixate.

Once the foundations are in place we can push forwards and get him to where his owners want him.

🌟👏PROGRESS VIDS👏🌟

We got sent these lovely videos over the weekend. We always love to see how the dogs are getting on.

First up we have Blue, when we first met him wouldn't leave the house as he was terrified of the outside world. He is now loving life and enjoying off leash freedom after finishing their training with us.

Next we have Lara who has recently just finished her puppy package and her owners are keeping up the good work.

Then we have Frank who came to us for help with loose leash walking and over excitement around dogs. How owners are now able to confidently walk him next to their baby.

Awesome work guys 👏

👅🐾MEET LENNOX🐾👅

We had a fantastic session with this gorgeous boy.

Lennox came to us with no major issues but his owners wanting to do more with him.

He has fantastic training and is a nicely well rounded boy. But his owner wants to get him to a higher level of obedience and do more to get him using his brain.

During the session we introduced reward markers so we can signal when he has done the right thing and used a food lure to be able to lure him into a focused heel and teach him a sports heel position.

Next we went through how to start teaching him tracking as his owner might go down the sporting route with him but if nothing else it is good training for him to get him using his brain.

We finished off by going through ways to use play as a reward and how to play appropriately with him that is both fun for him and his owners. This can be used later down the line to substitute the food for a toy.
