TB Rudy is slowly gaining some kilos and ill be dammed if he loses it again! A huge perk of being onsite is being able to change/remove rugs 10 times a day 🫣

Just a rainsheet but it stops him buring calories to keep warm

Cheyanne is 34 years old with cushings and whilst a good weight and a "sticky/lanolin" coat, nice to keep her warm on cold wet nights

Rudy starting to fill out nicely, currently just grass, hay and a small feed with the wonderful Forageplus supplements ...

Rudy starting to fill out nicely, currently just grass, hay and a small feed with the wonderful Forageplus supplements to make sure he's getting the nutrients he needs.
Plenty of grass avaliable so building him up slowly and will be upping feeds later in the year to get ready for winter

With the El Sorchio wrather we've been having the horses have chosen to spend most of their days up in the shade of the barn.
Hay on tap, water on tap and himalyam salt licks on hand
Cushings pony Chester had some white marks on him from sweating so I decided to drop a chunck of salt into the water bucket and it was empty within a hours! A trick ill be doing for future melting hot days

Rudy and Ru are both dominant characters, protective of mares and food aggressive....but they have come to an arrangement protecting Cheyanne, they take it in turns!!
Chestnut, Rudy saves some calorie burning and gives himself time to eat the grass whilst Ru watches over Cheyanne

For the first week to two groups were kept in adjacent fields to meet each other safely

Second week they join forces and after 10 minutes of some half assed squealing and bunny hops they went about eating the grass. Multiple checks throughout the day to keep an eye.

The two big boys Ru and Rudy are food aggressive so everyone headcollars on and tied up for now but each meal is less tense than the last.....
