Can a behaviourist ‘fix’ your dog? Good question.

The answer depends on so many things:
- how much work you put in.
- how well your dog responds to the training.
- whether health issues like gut and joint pain are properly addressed.
- whether you and your dog have any set backs.

Life is variable and we are working with living beings BUT what we can say is that we see significant change with the dogs we work with.

Our favourite part, though, is seeing the significant change in the humans we work with.

If ya behaviourist seems too expensive or too much of a commitment at the minute, there are so many things you can start doing today. Type REACT in the comments to find out what.

Reactive dog class hit a new level this weekend! When these clients joined us they were worried they’d never be able to take their dogs to social situations again.

This space gives them a chance to put their training into practice with zero judgement.

All force free, choice based training.

If you want to know the steps we took with our clients to get them this far, comment PLAN below.

That feeling when you can walk your reactive dog around the block stress free. They don’t need to be friends with everyone but those moments where they have a positive interaction are everything.

To do this, we need to change their emotional state.

If you want to know how to do this with your dog, get in touch.

First step was to get Blue onto some pain relief as I knew pain was a big factor for him the moment we adopted him. This made an instant difference.

I am the sort of person who likes to know the diagnosis so I can understand next steps, what to look out for and have a greater understanding of his symptoms.

Thanks to the Dynamic Dog process, I already had a good sense of what wasn’t looking right.

So X-rays were done and they pretty much confirmed my theories:

- hip dysplasia
- nerve compression in two places
- elbows - will need looking after

My vet is fantastic and we therefore already had him on the right meds to start with. Now I need to figure out how I look after him best considering he is only 1 year old.

Please note that Blue shoes absolutely no ‘obvious’ signs of behaviour. These problems could have been missed for a really long time and he would’ve been labelled ‘naughty’ or ‘difficult’ (granted he is both those things 😅).

That’s what we like to see! Progress made from start to finish. That’s why we work with our clients for 6-12 weeks, seeing progress that will continue to grow.

This also gives us the chance to work alongside your vets to make sure we are addressing any health issues.

Drop us a DM if you are interested in seeing progress with your dog’s reactivity.

It can be a really special time when you introduce your dog to your baby for the first time but if things don’t go right, it can be pretty stressful and worrying.

Some dogs can really struggle with the arrival of a new small person. Their whole world can get turned upside down.

If you are expecting a new baby and want to help your current furry ‘baby’ deal with it well, give us a call.

My dog could easily be reactive. We rescued him and he was already scared of traffic and noises and was touch sensitive. He was also born with chronic pain and poor gut health.

So here are the things I did to prevent him from becoming reactive.

1. Never placed him into situations he wasn’t really for - even if it was inconvenient for us. I spent the first few months not walking down the road outside our house. He can now walk along the road fear free.

2. Only touched him in a way he was comfortable with. We don’t touch his tail or his face as he has asked us not too. This has built up trust and he has become more and more cuddly.

3. Prioritised pain, gut health and sleep over socialisation and training. His comfort is more important than the perfect recall right now. The more pain free he gets, the easier he is to train.

4. Spent a lot of time building trust. I am the place he comes to when he is worried. He does not need to bark at or react to anything.

5. Fed a lot of treats!! Food rocks his world so we use it a lot. It helps him regulate, motivate and manages when things are difficult. Healthy treats plus healthy food means a trim, healthy, motivated Bulldog.

Prevent your dog’s reactivity in 30 days. Everything we do with our clients is laid out in just 10 minutes per day. Comment REACT for instant help.

You don’t enjoy your walks with your reactive dog. I get it. It’s hard work, embarrassing, frustrating.

The trick to enjoying walks again is to re-think what your walks look like.

We get stuck into the routine of stepping out of our house, walking around the block, dodging the neighbours and returning home in a worse state than when you left.

💫 Try adding this game into your daily walk. All you need is a space, some trees and some treats.

Step one - hide the treats around the trees and challenge your dog to find them…
THATS IT!

Inject some fun into your walks to get out of the same daily stress routine.

Reactions are going to happen. Your reactive dog won’t be perfect straight away. The trick is knowing how to handle these reactions and help them recover afterwards.

Reactive dogs experience so much stress and the tiny triggers add up. Supporting them through each one, one step at a time, starts to change their perspective and therefore their behaviour.

You don’t need to struggle alone. Stop us a DM to help your reactive dog now.
