Another day, another tick removal 🥹
So here is my step by step on how I remove
It.

1. Locate the tick, much easier for me with a dryer.
2. Hook the tick with the tool
3. Twist the tick
4. & gently pull
5. Check over the dog and the tick to make sure it’s fully intake 🤢
6. Dispose of the tick… (sorry tick 😣)
7. Spray the dog with an antiseptic spray.

About the tool: Tick Twisters are specialised, vet-designed tools used to safely and painlessly remove ticks from humans and pets by twisting rather than pulling. They prevent leaving the head in the skin and avoid squeezing the abdomen, minimizing infection risk.

As the weather gets warmer, here are a few friendly reminders to help keep your dogs safe and comfortable during their grooming appointments.

- Please avoid heavy exercise or long walks before your appointment, as dogs can already arrive feeling overheated.

- Although I have an air conditioning unit, the salon can still become warm on very hot days. If your dog struggles in the heat, please let me know – I’ll happily rearrange your appointment for a cooler day if needed.

- I’ll always have plenty of fresh water available and will do everything I can to keep the salon cool and comfortable. If temperatures become too high, I may also rearrange appointments for your dog’s safety.

- Some dogs may leave with slightly damp ears or small damp areas to avoid prolonged drying time and keep them more comfortable in the heat.

- If you usually walk to appointments and don’t have transport, please let me know. I’m happy to offer pick-up where possible (fully insured).

ITS TICK SEASON 🤢

Ticks carry serious diseases like Lyme disease, which can affect both dogs and humans. Checking your dog regularly (especially after walks in grass or woodland) is so important this time of year.

A few key points:
• Always use a proper tick remover tool
• Avoid tweezers or Vaseline, this can cause the tick to release harmful bacteria into your dog
• Remove ticks as soon as you spot them
• Keep up with preventative care, a good shampoo or treatment can really help. I use 🫧

Stay vigilant and keep your pups protected 🐾

Please read a lil update ⬇️
In case any of you missed it I now have a dedicated work phone to help keep everything a bit more organised (from toddler playdates to doggy haircuts, my life is chaos otherwise 🤣🥹).
