Trainrite From puppy training, advanced dog training, dog behavioural issues and more. Trainrite is a solutio

I have been professionally training dogs for more than 30 years and find massive satisfaction helping others to enjoy their dogs as much as I enjoy mine. Qualified at Surrey University to train, assess and compile reports on dogs observed and then discuss strategies and development plans. Competed in the 50th National Police Dog Trials, aimed at encouraging the professional development of police dog handling. The competition tested skills including tracking, obedience, agility, searching and detaining. I won two awards; One for the highest score in Phase 3 and then for acheiving overall fourth
place in the competition. During my time in the police force I have trained a wide and varied breed of dogs in the detection of humans,
controlled and prohibited substances with modern and progressive methods. Since leaving the force I have trained and competed in obedience, field trials
and working tests. I continue to love working and
training all dogs and meeting
their owners. My approach to training is through positive leadership
by encouraging the wanted behaviour whilst discouraging that unwanted behaviour. My
aim is to develop loose lead walking and building a strong
bond between dog and owner. I offer residential training for dogs that have more challenging behavioural issues and training needs. Ocasionally I do have young dogs part and fully trained that are available for rehoming.

Great early evening session with Heather and Cypriot Rescue Malinois Marlon carrying out loose leash and leash free heel work. Fantastic to see the engagement and relationship between dog and host.

I was invited by the ladies of Foston WI to talk about my career and life working with dogs.
I included my time in the Armed Forces training dogs for a variety of Government agencies through to me being a Dog Officer and Instructor in the Civilian Police and finished with me at Trainrite.
We then had a Q & A where I was asked some interesting and challenging questions about the members own dogs and how I could help with training and behavioural issues .
Tea and Cakes to finish off a great evening. Thank you ladies.

Wow what a great weekend training in the early October sunshine at Trainrite.
As those of you know it’s been a week of ups and downs for myself but a fantastic end to a weekend as Jan and her re home Vizzla x Reggie received their Level One Certificate.
Cheered on by her fellow classmates they successfully completed all the elements of the test.
This is another example that with hard work, dedication and commitment you can achieve your goal.

I’ll help you get to training at Trainrite on Sunday 20 th September.

Having first met Labrador pup Mable on a Home visit and then recently at puppy class I was aware of her complex behaviour, she displays a high state of arousal and an element of anxiety.
Owner’s Helena and Sean needed a little support so Mable came for a short stay at Trainrite.
Initially I spent a lot of time building her trust and confidence so that when she was faced with something that she had previously concerned her she could draw confidence from me , we spent time visiting and socialising in busy environments and rewarding at the appropriate times.
I gave her plenty of freedom to use her high level of energy whilst building a reliable recall in all environments.
Then by achieving focus and engagement whilst creating boundaries i am sure we have a happier and healthier Mable.
