September equine area visits are here, with fewer shows and hacks to fit in as the evenings start drawing in. 🐴🍂

Autumn's a good time to get ahead, particularly if flu boosters or dental checks are due before the yards get busier heading into winter. It's also worth keeping an eye on autumn grass, as the flush can catch laminitis-prone horses out.

Jumping up to say hello is cute when they're tiny. Less so when they're full grown and knocking people off their feet.

It's one of the most common things people ask Mary about, and it's rarely a badly behaved dog. Usually it's a dog who's delighted to see you and has never been shown another way to say so.

Mary Howat, our certified canine behaviourist, is giving a free evening talk on jumping up at our Kirriemuir branch this Monday 31 August. She'll cover why dogs do it, how to stop it becoming a habit, and what you can do to start turning it around. There's plenty of time for your questions at the end.

Our certified canine behaviourist Mary Howat is giving four free evening talks at our Kirriemuir branch. Each one takes a single problem and gives it the time it deserves, so you'll leave understanding why your dog is doing it and what you can do to start changing things at home.

It might be that their mind needs exercise too. Dogs are clever, curious and sociable, and a tired body doesn't always mean a settled brain. When there isn't enough to keep them thinking, that spare energy can spill over into little bits of mischief around the house.
