At Leahurst Equine Hospital, we use shockwave therapy as part of our comprehensive approach to managing a range of equine musculoskeletal conditions.
Shockwave therapy delivers high-energy sound waves to targeted areas, helping to support the body’s natural healing processes and reduce pain. It can be particularly useful in the management of tendon and ligament injuries, osteoarthritis and other orthopaedic conditions, alongside appropriate rehabilitation.

Are you an organised, accurate and confident administrator with experience of financial processes and client service?

We are looking for someone to join our friendly client accounts and wider administrative team at Leahurst Equine, supporting both the Equine Hospital and Practice.

This is a varied and important role involving:

🔹 Processing clinical charges, invoices and payments accurately
🔹 Supporting veterinary insurance claims
🔹 Responding professionally and sensitively to client account queries
🔹 Helping to manage outstanding accounts and credit control
🔹 Working closely with our clinical and administrative teams

We are looking for someone with excellent numerical accuracy, attention to detail, communication and organisational skills. You should have experience in administration or client services, together with some financial administration experience.

Experience within veterinary or healthcare services, insurance claims, procurement or accounts payable would be an advantage.

If you are proactive, dependable and empathetic, and enjoy working as part of a collaborative team, we would love to hear from you!

Asthma is relatively common in horses and ponies, resulting in laboured breathing, coughing and poor performance. It is most commonly seen in stabled horses, but it can also be triggered by the hot, dusty weather and high pollen counts we are currently experiencing! Asthma is most effectively controlled by management changes that reduce exposure to the allergic trigger; however, inhaled medications are commonly used to provide additional help. Inhaled medication targets the lungs directly and reduces the risk of side effects elsewhere in the body.

There are a variety of ways to deliver inhaled medication to your horse, but the most common routes are using a specially designed equine inhaler or a nebuliser. Inhalers must be kept clean and dry to work most effectively, and careful use can yield the best results. Watch this video to learn more.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the amazing, friendly and supportive yard team at Leahurst Equine, one of the UK’s leading equine referral hospitals.

We are particularly keen to hear from experienced horse people who are confident handling a wide variety of horses and can ride confidently and competently for clinical assessment and diagnostic purposes.

The role includes:

🐎 Caring for hospitalised horses, including feeding, watering, grooming and mucking out
🐎 Handling, leading, lunging and riding horses during clinical investigations
🐎 Maintaining our stables and yard to excellent hygiene and welfare standards
🐎 Supporting the nursing and clinical teams during investigations such as MRI and gamma scintigraphy

Applicants must have demonstrable relevant equine-handling experience and hold a BHSQ Level 2 qualification (Stage 2).

You’ll work alongside our friendly and supportive team, providing high-quality nursing care to hospitalised horses and supporting theatre, diagnostic imaging, emergency and critical care, and the teaching of veterinary and veterinary nursing students.
