I did the walk up around Leiros Parc on Friday. It's a walk I really enjoy. Listening to the birds, walking through the trees, watching wildlife run through the meadow whilst on the walk and often watching the sheep in the fields. I'm sure there are badgers, foxes, hedgehogs, mice, bats all within this area too.
All those fields are intended to be uprooted, concreted and built on. More greenspace to be potentially diminished for forever more. I'm not sure how old the hedgerows of oaks are along the one field, maybe around 100 years old?!? Looking at the size of them, still young trees that should have centuries ahead of them. Providing sustainability for humans and animals. Biodiversity to become wiped out. Those trees providing filter and carbonising soil - sounds like that's needed due to the arsenic in the shallow soils there!
Daphne Road to become the main access road? Whilst walking up there, one car drove down in that time. I feel sorry for the residents there and Leiros who will have to deal with a huge increase in traffic.
As well as traffic increase on that side of Neath which is already chaos most times of the day. No mention of any other soft infrastructure for that area.
As we know, they've applied for 250 houses to be built - but once they start, there is often an increase in numbers applied for.
I'm not posting this as a "not in my back yard" - I don't even live on that side of Neath. Although I don't want this on my side destroying green belts either in fairness.
19th August deadline for any planning permission objections.
