run farm in Nailswoth, 4 Miles south of Stroud along the A46; Barton End Stables was established by Abby Blackwell in the year 2000 to provide a full range of services and activities for riders of all ages and abilities.

👏🐴 MEET THE BARTON END STABLES TEAM! 🐴👏

This week we’re getting to know SHARON, who has been part of the Barton End Stables family for an incredible 14 years! 💕🐴

We asked Sharon a few questions…

🐴 If you could take one Barton End horse home for the weekend, who would it be and why?
Alfie! Because he’s cheeky — just like my own dogs! 😂🐶
What’s your favourite part of working at Barton End Stables — and what’s the funniest thing that’s happened on the yard?
Her favourite memory was riding Alan home 🥰
But the funniest has to be having a water fight with the kids on summer camp — everyone got VERY wet! 💦😂

❄️ What’s your favourite yard duty — and which one would you happily never do again?
Sharon loves meeting everyone who comes to the stables and looking after the horses. 🐴💙
But getting the horses in and out when it’s snowing and the ground is icy? 🥶❄️
“It’s like an ice rink!!!” 😬😂

Our Saddle Clubs are a great opportunity for children to enjoy 45 minutes of riding, alongside 45 minutes of hands-on learning about horses. 🐴

From learning how to tack up and safely pick out a horse’s hooves, to understanding more about horse care, there’s always something new to learn.

These sessions really do give children the chance to get more hands-on, build confidence and learn valuable skills and knowledge that they can take with them throughout their riding journey.

At Barton End, it’s not just about riding the horse — it’s about understanding and caring for them too! Our next Saddle Clubs will take place in the October half term, keep a look out for new dates on our social media channels 👀
