run farm in Nailswoth, 4 Miles south of Stroud along the A46; Barton End Stables was established by Abby Blackwell in the year 2000 to provide a full range of services and activities for riders of all ages and abilities.

🐴 MEET OUR BARTON END YARD HELP – KIM 🐴

Meet Kim, who not only regularly rides at Barton End, but also helps out with Sunday duties at the stables and enjoys mentoring our younger volunteers. 💕

We asked Kim three questions…

🐴 What’s your perfect Barton End day from start to finish?

“Barton End morning starts with helping with the feeds and bringing in all the horses and ponies.

After all the yard jobs have been done for the day, you stand back and admire how nice and clean the yard looks! Hay nets all done, water drinkers cleaned and all the breakfast feeds done for the next morning. There’s something very satisfying about it!”

🧹 What’s your favourite job on the yard – and which would you happily leave to someone else?

“I’m happy to do most jobs, but if someone else wants to fork up the muck heap… brilliant!”

💗 As a regular mature rider, what would you say to someone thinking about getting back into riding?

“Go for it!

We have fabulous instructors at Barton End who will put your mind at ease. Arrive a little earlier and come and meet the horse you’re going to ride.

Horse riding is great for building confidence, you’ll meet new people and it’s also very good exercise for your core, bum and thighs!”

So, if you’ve been thinking about getting back in the saddle, why not take Kim’s advice… GO FOR IT! 🐴💪
