As some of you may know, I'm registered with the Royal Kennel Club as the RBT Rescue and Welfare Co-ordinator. Recently, an owner got in touch with me seeking help to re-home Kiwi, a 6 year-old female RBT.
Although we reached out to a couple of people we knew were looking, Kiwi didn’t meet their requirements and she was handed over to Dogs Trust in Basildon a couple of weeks ago.
Dogs Trust would ideally like Kiwi’s new family to have experience or knowledge of the breed and have therefore asked me to share Kiwi’s profile on their behalf.

Are you right for Kiwi?
Kiwi is a lovely 6-year-old lady who is instantly friendly when meeting new people. She adores being fussed and stroked and will happily soak up all the attention. Kiwi is an independent girl who often prefers to do her own thing. She enjoys exploring new environments and loves her daily walks with her humans. She may be happy to have walking buddies but isn't particularly bothered about spending time with other dogs, and as she did not get along with dogs in her previous home, she will need to be the only dog in her new home. Kiwi cannot live with cats or small furries. She can live with older, secondary-aged children who understand that she sometimes likes her own space. As a playful and occasionally clumsy large-breed dog, she will suit a family who understands the needs of a bigger dog.
Is Kiwi right for you?
Kiwi will need regular grooming to keep her fabulous coat looking its best. She is currently a little wary of grooming, so her new family will need to take things slowly and patiently while helping her build positive associations. Once Kiwi is settled into her new home, she should be comfortable being left for reasonable periods, but initially, her alone time will need to be built up gradually. Kiwi is a super-friendly, affectionate and fun-loving lady who has lots to offer the right family. For someone who adores large-breed dogs and is looking for a wonderful companion with an independent streak, Kiwi could make a fantastic addition to the family.
