Is your dog's behaviour making you dread walks, visitors, or even just being at home?

You're not alone. So many families in Northumberland are living with a dog they adore but don't quite understand — the pulling, the barking, the snapping, the anxiety. It's exhausting, and it can leave you feeling like you've failed them.

You haven't.

Dogs don't misbehave to be difficult. They communicate the only way they know how. And with the right support, things genuinely can change.

At College 4 Canines, I work with dogs and their families using a force-free, science-based approach that gets to the root of the problem — not just patches over the surface.

⚠️ I want to be upfront with you: I only have 6 assessment spaces left for the rest of 2026. After that, it's a waiting list until next year.

If you've been on the fence about reaching out, please don't wait. That first call is free, it's informal, and it could genuinely change everything.

🌟 Coming soon — SCENTWORK classes at College 4 Canines! 🐾
👃 Accessible to all breeds, ages and ability levels.
📅 Starting Friday 27th November, 7-8pm | 📍 Acklington Village Hall, Northumberland

Your dog's nose is their most powerful tool for understanding the world. Every walk, garden visit and new environment is filled with information that humans simply cannot experience—but scentwork gives your dog the opportunity to use this incredible natural ability in a focused and rewarding way.

Unlike activities that rely purely on physical exercise, dog scentwork training challenges your dog's brain. Searching requires concentration, problem-solving, independence and decision-making, creating a mentally enriching experience that helps dogs use the skills they were naturally born with.

Research into nosework has found that scent-based activities allow dogs to engage in natural behaviours and can contribute to positive welfare by giving them opportunities to make choices, solve problems and work independently.

🐾NEW DATE ADDED🐾

Puppy socialisation doesn’t mean letting your puppy meet every dog they see.

Done well, socialisation helps a puppy experience people, dogs, places, sounds and everyday situations without becoming overwhelmed.

Our Perfect Puppy classes focus on:

Building confidence gradually
Positive exposure to new experiences
Learning calmness around dogs and people
Developing appropriate greetings
Helping your puppy focus on you
Recognising when your puppy needs more space
The goal isn’t a puppy who rushes towards everything. It’s a puppy who can feel safe, stay engaged and make calm choices in different environments.

Give your puppy a thoughtful, force-free start.

📅 Class begins Thursday 5th November
📍 Acklington Village Hall, near Morpeth

You call your dog…
…and they completely ignore you.

You try again.
Nothing.

Meanwhile, they’re more interested in:
Other dogs
People
Literally anything else

Sound familiar?

Here’s the truth:
👉 Your dog isn’t being difficult
👉 They’re just overwhelmed

And training hasn’t been built properly yet.
We help dog owners fix this step-by-step—so their dog actually listens in real life.

👃 Have you heard of Scentwork?

🐕 Nose work is BRILLIANT for all dogs — especially anxious, reactive, or high-energy ones!

Dogs have up to 300 million scent receptors (humans have just 6 million!) — give that incredible nose a job to do! 🐾

🧠 Why Scentwork?
Scentwork taps into your dog's most powerful instinct — sniffing! It's mentally exhausting in the best way possible. Just 20 minutes of nose work can tire your dog out more than an hour-long walk.

✅ Perfect for dogs who:
🔸 Get easily overstimulated or overwhelmed
🔸 Struggle with reactivity or anxiety
🔸 Need an outlet for all that energy
🔸 Are recovering from injury and need low-impact activity
🔸 Simply LOVE using their nose!

🌿 What does it involve?
Dogs are trained to search for specific scents — hidden in boxes, rooms, or outdoors. It builds focus, confidence, and a stronger bond between you and your dog — all while having fun!

🎓 Ready to give it a try?
We run Scentwork classes here at College 4 Canines, perfect for beginners!
