Here is the update on banned dog breeds from Defra:
- From 1 July 2026, you no longer need third-party public liability insurance.
- From 1 November 2026, it will become illegal to leave a 12-year-old child or under with a banned dog breed without adult supervision.

Morecambe Poetry Festival returns from 18th–20th September 2026, bringing another outstanding line-up of poets, performers and spoken word artists to the town. Hosted at the beautiful Morecambe Winter Gardens, the festival has quickly established itself as one of Morecambe's most exciting cultural events.

This year's programme features names including Dr John Cooper Clarke, Jackie Kay, Henry Normal, Salena Godden, Brian Bilston, Robin Ince, Luke Wright and many more, alongside workshops, open mics, word walks, exhibitions and family-friendly activities throughout the weekend.

Events like this bring visitors from across the UK into Morecambe, supporting local hotels, cafés, pubs, restaurants and independent businesses while showcasing the town's growing cultural scene.

NEWS: It's been confirmed that a breaking ground ceremony will be held to celebrate the official start of work on the Eden Project Morecambe site.

Andy Jasper, CEO of the Eden Project charity, told Beyond Radio the event on Wednesday June 24 would be "history in the making".

Work is set to begin on the first part of the long-awaited £100m attraction - 'the Bring Me Sunshine Garden' - this summer, with construction to follow.
