Culsalmond Bassets and Bloodhounds We have had a bloodhound for 2 years and what a whirlwind she has been.

We have owned bassets for almost 18 years as mainly pets but have taken the plunge into the dog show world and our latest basset addition will start showing in May.

Another day, Another show, Another Judge but the results remain the same. At the great Keith show limit dog show in a class of 5 bassets Wilma was awarded best of breed. She then also won hound group 2 and then Hound best puppy. Walter was awarded Hound Minor puppy. In their companion show in a large puppy class Wilma got a 3rd and due to an amateur mistake on my part (getting the companion show judge to hold Walter for me in the limit show DOH) didn’t enter him as that would have been questionable. Well done to the committee for a really well run show for their first year and to the judges for liking our team.

Well the twins did it again. At Tayside Lochee open show Wilma, Walter and Edna all got 1st places but Walter got the Best of Breed under judge Jo Maclaine. Walter then also won best hound minor puppy and Not to be outdone Wilma then won best Hound puppy under judge Sandra Johnston. Sadly nothing for them in the best in show ring but fantastic results. A big thank you to both judges for liking our dogs and to everyone who helped hold and show some of them 1 person and 3 dogs in the ring at once is tricky 🤣

Well a fantastic day for the bassets today at Turriff show. Walter won his junior class. Then Wilma won her post graduate class. In the breed class Wilma gratefully handled by Pauline won best of breed. She then went on to win best hound minor puppy then reserve best minor puppy in show. Walter was back in for Hound puppy which he also won. Edna who was just on a day out got 2nd in Hound open then her and Wilma got 2nd in the brace class. Thank you to the judges for liking our gang and to the committee for putting on this lovely show. And to Emma and Pauline for helping change dogs and being an extra pair of hands.

Well a super day at my lucky show Leeds. Most years we have done well at this show. Maeve and Edna both got their first reserve cc here and Vera got best of breed with cc number 2 last year. Wilma and Walter both showed well in their puppy classes getting a 2nd and a 3rd respectively. But Vera only went and won her class then was awarded the CC which is number 3 making her a champion subject to RKC approval. It’s been a long hard slog but perseverance and a lot of moral support and we made it. A big thank you to the judges today and the others that have awarded Vera her CCs and to everyone who helped and encouraged us along the way especially dog show mum.

A lovely day if rather warm at the Annandale canine society’s open show. Wilma, Walter and Edna all stood alone so a first for each of them then in the challenge Wilma won best of breed and best puppy in breed. Then in the puppy group she was awarded a group 3. Big thank you to the Judge Kathy Spacey and to Sharon for handling Edna in the challenge.

Well a lovely day at Bon Accord Kennel Associations open show. Only had the Bassets today as it was the pups first indoor show and they were completely unbothered by everything. Walter stood alone but showed well. Edna got a 2nd in the open class and Wilma got 3rd. She then beat Walter for best puppy in breed then went onto get puppy group 4. Walter then got a 2nd in minor puppy.

Well Wilma and Walter had their first shows today at Glenrothes and Fife open shows. At the Glenrothes show under Judge Ali Morton Both won their classes with Wilma getting best of breed. Then won ithe AV hound puppy class. In the Fife show under Nigel Morgan they didn’t do quite as well but as they could only enter avnsc open it was always going to be tough at only 6 months. But for their first show they did fantastically and couldn’t be happier with how they were. Bold happy wee souls.

**THIS SUNDAY**
Just a reminder about the special waddle planned for Sunday 21st June. Dumfries House near Cumnock. East Ayrshire. This is a Royal residence and we have permission to use the grounds. This is one of our special events to mark the 60th anniversary of the Club and we meet at 11am. We would like to see as many dogs as possible - 60 if we can make it. One for each year! Honorary bassets welcome. Apart from the waddle there is the Sunday market. A childrens play area. A walled garden which was a favourite place of our ex queen. The shop and coffee shop are always popular. The club will be giving vouchers towards tea to members. Just hand them in at the coffee shop.

A nice day at Banff, Moray and Nairn Canine Clubs open show. Edna got a first in her class of 1 then missed out on BOB. Maeve came for a day out and out of a class of 1 she won the BOB but then she went on to win Hound Group 2 in a nice line up. Thank you to the committee for a well run show and to the judge for liking our girls.
