“Pica” is the term for eating things that aren’t food… and Tacho certainly has a talent for finding some very unusual snacks! 😂

In her defence, Tacho is on medication that can increase her appetite, but she really surprised us with her choice of snack! 👀

Tacho came to see us feeling very sorry for herself, and her mum told us she had eaten…

A PARACHUTE! 😳🪂

(A model one, thankfully!)

We were very surprised by what we saw on the X-ray — and even more surprised by what came out of her stomach, accompanied by a huge amount of grass!

Thankfully, Tacho has recovered really well and is back to her usual self 💚

We’re hoping she sticks to her dog food from now on… although we suspect she may have other ideas! 😂🐾

🐾 LAP SPAYS 🐾

Did you know we offer laparoscopic (keyhole) spays at our Llanfair Surgery? 🐶

Lap spays are a minimally invasive way of spaying your pet, using a camera and small incisions rather than the larger incision used with a traditional spay. This can mean less discomfort and a quicker recovery for some patients.

We have a visiting vet, Elliot, a small animal surgery postgraduate certificate holder, who comes to our Llanfair Surgery to carry out these procedures, so lap spays are arranged on specific dates when we have a request.

If you’re thinking about having your dog spayed and would like to know more, give the surgery a call:

☎️- Montgomery 01686 668234
☎️- Llanfair 01938 810087

Pre tupping preparation 🐑 🐑

Ewe nutrition is important prior to tupping as flushing and increased body condition can increase ovulation prior to turning the tup.
We can take blood samples to check mineral levels prior to mineral drenching/bolusing
💉 🩸

Pre tupping is also a good time to check worm burdens in ewes with our NEW in house worm egg count machine.
Our new machine can detect fluke, cocci and roundworms, with the ability speciate between haemonchus, and different strongyles for a more accurate diagnosis! 🪱 🔬

Half of your flock also comes down to tup fertility. With heat earlier in the year and bluetongue in the vicinity there has been poor ram fertility seen across the board. Get your rams fertility tested prior to tupping to again make sure for optimal results at tupping!

If your farm is part of the farming connect program funding is available for all of the above.

If you have any queries please get in touch!
