This unique black and white girl came in to see us for her spay procedure and was an absolute star throughout her visit.

With her striking markings and lovely personality, Abigail certainly turned a few heads while she was here!

She’s now on the road to recovery and enjoying some well-earned rest.

As temperatures rise, remember that our pets feel the heat too! Here are some simple ways to keep your furry friends safe and comfortable this summer:

💧 Always provide plenty of fresh, cool water.

🌳 Walk dogs early in the morning or later in the evening when it's cooler.

🏠 Keep pets indoors or in shaded areas during the hottest part of the day.

🧊 Use cooling mats, damp towels, or frozen treats to help them stay comfortable.

🐾 Avoid hot pavements – if it's too hot for your hand, it's too hot for their paws.

🚗 Never leave pets in a parked car, even for a few minutes.

Keeping our pets cool helps them stay happy, healthy, and safe all summer long. ❤️

For hygiene reasons, we don't keep communal water bowls out in reception. This helps us ensure every dog receives clean, fresh water in a freshly prepared bowl.
If your dog needs a drink while you're visiting, simply ask a member of our team and we'll be happy to provide some. 🐶💧

What is debridement?

Debridement is a medical or surgical procedure that removes dead, damaged, contaminated, or infected tissue from a wound. The goal is to create a clean, healthy wound bed that promotes healing and reduces the risk of infection.

Following debridement, the wound was successfully closed with three stitches, and the patient is recovering well. 💙🐶

Say hello to our Animal Care Assistant, Heather! 👋🐾

Heather joined Holly House in March 2024 as a Receptionist and Animal Care Assistant. She loves getting hands-on with the animals and is keen to further her career by progressing towards becoming an SVN (Student Veterinary Nurse).

When she’s not at work, Heather enjoys spending time with her dogs, Rex and Smokey, relaxing at her caravan on holiday, and tackling escape rooms with friends. 🚐🐶🔐

🐾 Fun Fact: Heather has quite the menagerie at home — 2 dogs, 3 rabbits, 1 lizard, and countless fish!

Say hello to our Vet Surgeon, James 💙

James joined Willows Vet Group in September 2023 after graduating from University of Liverpool 🎓

He became a full-time member of Holly House in 2024, and his main clinical interests are orthopaedics, cardiology ❤️ and Cavalier King Charles Spaniels 🐶

When he’s not at work, James enjoys:
🏀 Playing basketball
🏋️ Going to the gym
🥗 Meal prepping
⛷️ Watching and following sports — especially basketball, football, ice hockey, American football & skiing!

🤠 Fun fact: James loves all things American & country and would love to move to Canada someday 🍁
