The legislation passed in Parliament yesterday means that anyone looking to buy or adopt a puppy or kitten must either deal directly with the breeder or visit a registered rehoming center or shelter.

This new law will help prevent unscrupulous sellers from damaging dogs, puppies, cats and kittens, not to mention the families they are sold to. Third party sellers are not interested in the welfare, or futures of the animals they trade in. This legislation will go a long way towards preventing unnecessary suffering.

New 'Lucy's Law' legislation laid in Parliament to end puppy and kitten farming.
