💊 **WRITTEN PRESCRIPTIONS – WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW**
Following the **Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) changes**, we'd like to remind clients that you have the option to request a written prescription for your pet's medication and purchase it from another authorised supplier.
This can be particularly useful for pets needing **long-term medication**, where you may be able to find a lower price elsewhere. 🐾
🩺 **Your pet still needs to be under veterinary care**
Our vets must have enough clinical information to prescribe safely, and your pet may need regular reviews or monitoring.
🚨 **When medication is needed urgently**
A written prescription may not be the most practical option for emergency treatment, pain relief, antibiotics or medication needed immediately after surgery. In these situations, we may dispense medication directly from the practice to avoid delays to your pet's treatment.
💷 **Written prescription fees from 1 September 2026**
• First medication: **£21.00**
• Each additional medication on the same prescription: **£12.50**
These fees are for the prescription only and are separate from the cost of the medication.
🛒 **Buying medication elsewhere?**
Always use a legitimate, authorised supplier. Look for online pharmacies accredited under the **Veterinary Medicines Directorate (VMD) Accredited Internet Retailer Scheme**.
