The more your dog learns to be calm in different environments, around distractions, and during everyday life, the easier everything else becomes—from walks and training to visitors and social situations.

⚠️ IMPORTANT DEFRA UPDATE FOR EXEMPTED DOG OWNERS ⚠️

DEFRA has announced changes affecting owners of exempted banned breed-type dogs.

Key changes include:

📅 Third-party public liability insurance will remain a legal requirement until 30th June 2026. From 1st July 2026, this requirement will be removed.

👨‍👩‍👧 From 1st November 2026, owners must not leave a child under 12 years old in close proximity to an exempted banned breed-type dog without adult supervision in a home or private setting.

🐾 All other Certificate of Exemption conditions remain unchanged, including requirements relating to muzzling, leads in public, and secure management at home.

While this legislation applies specifically to exempted dogs, we believe supervision of young children around all dogs is an important part of responsible ownership.

We’re sharing this update to help keep owners informed. Please refer to official DEFRA communications for full guidance and legal requirements.
