**Bluetongue Update**

Following on from our post earlier today there has now been a confirmed case of Bluetongue in the south west, the first in Scotland.

Although this doesn’t indicate that there will be a widespread breakout of infection, we are at an increased risk.

Please get in touch with the team if you would like to discuss vaccination, as stock is currently limited throughout the country.

****FARMERS BLUETONGUE UPDATE****

You may have seen in the press that there has been just under 300 confirmed cases of Bluetongue across England and Wales.

There are still no confirmed cases as of yet in Scotland. Restrictions still remain for bringing animals in from restricted zones. With the warm weather continuing, there is still a risk of it coming across the border.

Clinical signs include:
Fever
Swollen face
Ulceration of tongue and nose
Reduced milk yield
Nasal discharge

Vaccination is still the best way to protect your stock.

If you have any questions regarding the vaccine, or the disease please do get in touch.
