🧡🧡🧡National Microchipping Month 🧡🧡🧡

😁😁😁10% off Microchipping for Family Plan Members 😁😁😁

It's the perfect time to ensure your pet is microchipped and that their information is up to date. Here are some steps you can take:

🐾 Schedule a Microchipping Appointment: If your pet isn't already microchipped, schedule an appointment with the practice.

🐾 Check Existing Microchips: If your pet is already microchipped, take a moment to check their information is up to date, use free microchip checker websites to find out which database your pet is registered to or you can come in to the practice where a member of staff can quickly scan your pet to see if they have a chip and find out the number:
https://www.microchipcentral.com/
https://www.petlog.org.uk/
https://login.pettrac.co.uk/

🐾Spread the Word: Use National Microchipping Month as an opportunity to educate friends and family about the importance of microchipping.

🧡Contact the practice to book you Puppy, Kitten, Dog, Cat, Rabbit or even Tortoise to be microchipped or to simply find out more information 🧡

🧡 The British Veterinary Association & 🧡

🐶 Due to the stresses of Covid and other events over the recent years, there is currently a Veterinary profession-wide issue with stress and burnout which are being exacerbated by aggressive or intimidating interactions with clients.

🐱 Every member of the All Pets Team is motivated and highly dedicated to the care and welfare of animals, from domestic pets to wildlife and every animal that walks through our doors impacts us on a personal level.

🦆However BVA surveys shows that three quarters of vets said the online abuse they had experienced had a negative impact on their job satisfaction or motivation, while half said it had negatively impacted their mental health. Also vets who had experienced online abuse in the past 12 months were more likely to report that they will have left the profession in five years’ time to pursue another career which leads to a further strain on those left in the business.

🐰 The BVA believe every veterinary workplace should be 100% free from abuse, but the reality is that 57% of vets in clinical practices all over the country felt intimidated by clients last year and 48% were abused online.

🧡 So please and when dealing with any member of veterinary staff, we respectfully ask clients to; be patient, considerate and courteous. In turn, we will do the same. 🧡

Travelling with your pets to Europe or the Republic of Ireland this year?

While there is talk that discussions are taking place between Britain and the European Union to bring back Pet Passports next year, at the moment, you will still need an *Animal Health Certificate* each time you travel to continental Europe and Eire. (Please note that you do not require an AHC for travel to Northern Ireland - check on current requirements for this.)

AHC's can be issued up to 10 days before your intended border crossing date.

Prior to this, your pet must be microchipped and have had a valid rabies vaccination (if this is a first vaccination and not an in-date booster, this has to be at least 21-30 days before the AHC can be issued).

For travel to the Republic of Ireland, you will also need tapeworm treatment 24-105 hours before travel - we can time this that we can issue your AHC and give the tapeworm treatment at the same time.

You will also need tapeworm treatment when you return from the continent back to the UK. The same time interval applies.

These are the prices for our Animal Health Certificates:

For your first ever AHC with us for 1 pet: £175.00
For any subsequent AHC's: £125.00
For any additional pet on either of the above: £ 35.00

Please get in touch with us if you have any further questions.
We are happy to help and to make travelling with your pet as easy as possible.

Wishing you a great holiday!

🧡🧡🧡National Microchipping Month 🧡🧡🧡

🎉🎉🎉10% off microchipping for June only 🎉🎉🎉

😊Run by the Royal Kennel Club and Petlog, it aims to raise awareness of the importance of keeping the details attached to your dog’s microchip correct and up to date 😊

🐾A microchip is no bigger than a grain of rice, and having one injected is a harmless procedure that is over within a few minutes. Once implanted, the microchip will last a lifetime, and is a great way of safely and effectively ensuring that your pet can be returned to you, should they ever go missing.

🐶Why is microchipping essential?🐶
For dog owner's it is a legal requirement for your dog to be microchipped. It’s also a requirement to make sure that the details held against the chip are correct at all times. In England it is a legal requirement for Cats to be microchipped, however it is highly recommended in Wales too.

❓Whose responsibility is it to microchip a puppy❓
It's a dog breeder's responsibility to ensure puppies are microchipped before selling them. Puppies cannot be sold until they're eight weeks old, and they must be microchipped before you can buy them.
If you're buying a puppy, make sure they're microchipped before taking them home.

⚠What happens if I don't get my dog microchipped?⚠
If your dog isn't microchipped and registered on an approved database, you could be served with a notice ordering you to microchip your dog. You'll have 21 days to do so or you may be liable to pay a £500 fine and could face criminal prosecution.

If your contact details change and you don't update them on the database, then you could also receive a notice and may be liable to pay a fine of £500.

🧡Contact the practice to book you Puppy, Kitten, Dog, Cat, Rabbit or even Tortoise to be microchipped or to simply find out more information 🧡

🧡💊🧡Repeat and Written Prescriptions 🧡💊🧡

Some pets require long-term or even lifetime medication. In these cases, our vets will discuss with you the best course of action. You may obtain repeat Prescription Only Medicines (POM-V) from your Vet or you can ask for a written prescription and obtain these medicines from another practice or an online Pharmacy. Below is a list of accredited retailers:
https://www.vmd.defra.gov.uk/InternetRetailers/accredited-retailers.aspx

🐾Your Veterinary Surgeon may only prescribe POM-V medications for the animals under their care.

🐾A prescription may not be appropriate if the animal is an inpatient or if immediate treatment is necessary.

🐾You will be informed, on request, of the price of any medications that may be prescribed for your animal.

🐾The general policy of this practice is to re-assess an animal requiring repeat prescriptions every 3-6 months, but this may vary with individual circumstances. If you are NOT a member of our Family Plan, the charge for a prescription check is £49. This involves a full clinical examination and review of your pet and their condition.

🐾The cost of a written prescription is £16. Upon request, please inform reception of the COMPANY you are ordering from and your ORDER NUMBER.

🐾Please allow 48hrs for any repeat prescription as these need to be authorised and dispensed or a written prescription to be produced.

For more information on the cost of a certain prescribed medicine please ask you Vet or speak to our reception team 😊

🐦 It's common to start seeing baby birds on the ground in the Spring & Summer, but what should you do if you find one?

🦆 Use the simple guide below or follow the link for more information. If the fledgling is not injured or in immediate danger it is best to leave them where they are and do not syringe feed water!

🦢 If you do find a sick or injured bird, or any kind of wildlife, call the practice for further information on how to proceed 🦔
