Our team of vets and nurses aim to deliver the highest standards in modern clinical and surgical care. We have fully equipped imaging, treatment and operating facilities. Your pet will receive the very best attention and professional care. We also welcome visiting surgeons who perform advanced orthopaedic and soft tissue surgery at Midsomer Norton Veterinary Centre. This allows complex procedures

to be done without the need to travel to referral centres. Should the need arise, we are happy to arrange referral to specialists in their field, with whom we work closely along side.

For some cats, a visit to the vets can be a pretty overwhelming experience. New smells, unfamiliar sounds and a completely different environment can all be a lot to take in!

That’s why, where possible, we like to give our feline patients time to acclimatise to the consult room before we start their examination. 🐾

Letting cats explore at their own pace, sniff around and become familiar with their surroundings can help them feel more comfortable and secure. For some cats, simply having a few extra minutes to settle can make a big difference to their experience — and can also allow us to perform a more relaxed and thorough examination.

As part of Happy Cat Month, we’re celebrating the little things we can do to make veterinary visits more cat-friendly. 💕

It’s Ginger Cat Appreciation Day! 🐈🧡

To celebrate here are some fun facts about ginger cats 🐾

💡Roughly 80% of ginger cats are male because the orange gene is carried on the X chromosome, so males only need one copy of the gene to be ginger, where females would need two 🧬
💡All ginger cats display some form of tabby pattern, such as stripes or spots🐯
💡Ginger cats were considered lucky in ancient Egypt, because their colour is like the sun, a symbol of prosperity, happiness and good fortune 👑
💡Their colour and pattern provides camouflage to help them hunt, just like tigers and other big cats 🐾

🌈Today is Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day

We are taking a moment today to remember all the animals that have crossed the rainbow bridge🤍
Our pets are such a huge part of our lives and losing them is losing a member of the family🕊️

The reference to Rainbow Bridge comes from this poem, written by Edna Clyde-Rekhy in 1959 after the loss of her Labrador, Major🐾

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigour; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together…

🐾 From Fracture to Four Paws Again!

Indie the gorgeous Sproodle came to the practice recently at just 8 weeks old. She had tried to jump out of her play pen unsuccessfully and had got her leg caught!🚨
She was very painful when she arrived, so after getting some pain relief on board, we took some x-rays.🩻

🔎As you can see, she fractured her radius and ulna. Fortunately, they are far from her growth plates at either end of the long bones, and were non-displaced.
🦴She was placed in a splint to keep the bones immobile while they healed.
Her bandage was changed weekly due to her rapid growth, and at her 2 week x-ray you can see that she is well on her way to healing.🎉

Indie has been a star patient throughout crate rest and bandage changes. She has made a brilliant recovery with her owners hard work, it’s not easy keeping an 8 week old puppy resting!

She stole the whole team’s hearts on her visits and we can’t wait to see her as she grows🐾

Keeping Jake’s smile purrfect!😸

Jake the Maine C**n recently visited the practice for a dental assessment🔎

🦷Did you know 60% of a tooth lies below the gum line, making radiographs important in assessing their health!

💕Meet the absolutely adorable Hattie, who recently visited the practice for the very first time!🐾

🚨She arrived at her new home with a cough, loud breathing, and less energy than a puppy her age should have.

🦠Kennel Cough is the name for a group of upper respiratory tract infections that spread easily between dogs. In young puppies or dogs which are already under the weather, there is a risk that infection can become more serious.

🩺With appropriate treatment, Hattie is feeling much better and was able to start her course of puppy vaccinations. These include protecting her against future Kennel Cough with a yearly booster.
