A real honest post from me here

When I took on the grooming room I was newly qualified and although I had passed everything I didn’t have full experience with every breed in breed standard cuts, just basic. It’s hard at colleges to get access to all breeds and understandably owners don’t always want their dogs being used as a practise dog so getting dogs in true breed standard cuts was really hard.

When I started out running my own business I was thrown in at the deep end and I was so thankful to customers for sticking with me whilst I found my feet and learnt how you wanted your dogs cutting (believe me just working off numbers on a card doesn’t allow you to see how dogs looked before so it was trial and error) and as I expected some people didn’t want to wait for me to get it right and jumped ship and that’s fine. Some went and came back, and many stayed and we muddled through together and I’m so very grateful.

Now the one breed that became my nemesis was the bichon - I would say this breed is where I took the biggest dent to my pride because I 🤞🏼wanted to improve on this breed but it’s hard to get right in a pet groom slot and I lost a few bichons who I honestly had tried very hard to get right and stressed about. At the time I had even paid to have access to a webinar and sent photos to the groomer to see how I could improve and believe me when I say if I can do anything to improve I will but juggling a new business and life I couldn’t fully immerse myself anymore than that.

Anyway I want this to be my next challenge - to try and nail the bichon cut so that I can bring my confidence back around these dogs 😅 so if I have to make Stormi a bichon to practise once I’ve done the next comp then so be it 😆

One thing about us in the shop we will do what we can to improve and always learn and if anything isn’t right you only need to speak to us and we can find a solution

Sorry for the bedtime reading post 😵‍💫

And thanks to gorgeous beau here I’ve knicked your pic for ref as you were in last week 👌🏻

We haven’t got every dog we are trying our best to get back into the swing. Also if you turn up before have done it we generally can’t get one as the dogs won’t stand still 😅

There’s a few more to post I’ll do that asap

Have a lovely weekend everyone ❤️
