A long overdue reintroduction
If you ask a dog walker why they got into this line of work most, likely have a moment that they can pinpoint that lead them down this road surrounded by dogs.
For me it was a tiny dog called Louis. Like most, I grew up surrounded by dogs (amongst an array of other animals from goats to pigeons) but in my early 20's, whilst working an office job, an emergency foster request came in for a tiny dog who was stuck in a difficult home situation and needed a way out. Traumatised, and carrying so much extra weight that I'd been advised that his heart wasn't coping, it was never a question of if, but when I should pick him up. It was supposed to be a temporary placement, but with a list of health conditions to manage and being highly reactive to dogs, men, children and anyone over 5'11", the question of finding him a permanent home answered itself pretty quickly, his permanent home was to be with me. And I've loved every minute of it, watching his personal growth has been the most fulfilling and rewarding gift I could ever have asked for.
Long story short, the thought of filling every day with dogs, in all their sizes and all their unique quirks, getting to watch them grow in confidence and blossom in play, just makes sense. I was so lucky to have Ruby's Walkies to guide and nurture me and to have me as a shadow so I could learn the crucial skills of the job in action - I'll be forever grateful
