It's Rawgust! 🐾🥩

Raw feeding can be a great choice for some dogs, but feeding raw doesn't automatically mean feeding a complete and balanced diet.

If you're feeding a homemade raw diet, it's worth considering whether all of your dog's nutritional requirements are being met — including essential nutrients like phosphorus and calcium.

And don't forget the less glamorous bit: good food hygiene matters too!

Want to make sure your horse is getting what they need? 👇Start with forage 🐎

When paddocks are dry, the first thing to check is your horse’s forage intake.

Horses are designed to spend much of their day eating, so keeping fibre available is essential for digestive health.

As a general guide, horses need around 2–2.5% of their bodyweight per day as dry matter intake.

For a 500kg horse, that’s around 12.5kg of forage dry matter per day!

This roughly equates to:
🌿 15kg+ of hay
🌿 30kg+ of haylage
🌿 (A much larger amount of fresh grass, depending on its moisture content)

The exact amount will vary depending on your horse, their workload, body condition and forage quality — but the key is to avoid long periods without fibre.

If grazing is reduced:
✅ Make sure enough forage is available
✅ Monitor weight and condition
✅ Review the diet to ensure essential nutrients are still being supplied

Once forage intake is right, you can look at whether the rest of the diet is balanced. A balancer like Equilibra® can help provide essential vitamins and minerals in a forage-based diet, while Fibregest™ can help with extra fibre.
