🚧🐾 FIBRE vs ERNIE — WHO'S REALLY SUPER-FAST?! 🏁

It's been a noisy week at Peak Paws & Claws! Openreach have been digging up outside to install fibre broadband, (finally)

Apparently, it's going to give us SUPER-FAST speeds. 💨

Well, excuse me! Have they heard of ME? I'm lightning quick ⚡ when there's a treat on offer or a squirrel🐿️ to chase! 😂

I've been supervising the work from my window picture (there's a hidden camera in the eyes 👀 😜), but so far they've dug up absolutely NO bones. What a disappointment! 🦴

The Boss says I'm not helping. I say I'm Head of Site Security, what better help can you get? 😄

🐾⭐ ERNIE'S OFFICIAL QUALITY CONTROL REPORT! ⭐🐾

Since becoming a local superstar, I've decided to take my job at Peak Paws & Claws VERY seriously.

Today's inspections included our own-brand dog food, tasty treats and toys. Naturally, everything passed with flying colours… although a few treats may have needed additional testing. 😋 😂

The Boss says I'm supposed to be working, not following him around looking for snacks. Honestly, you'd think he wasn't aware of my celebrity status! ⭐🙄😂

🐾 YOUR TURN! If your pet worked in a shop, what would their job be? Chief Treat Tester? Head of Napping? Director of Mischief?

Afternoon everyone 👋

It's been a strange couple of days, I've been stopped in the street and on my walks by the river by people asking to get my paw print 🐾 and having selfies with me 🤷 They're saying I'm a bit of a celebrity. 🙄

I'm not entirely sure what a celebrity is, but apparently lots of lovely people read my posts, tell me I'm handsome and occasionally share my adventures.

Obviously, I think this is entirely deserved🤭. I have worked very hard for my position as Chief Everything Officer at Peak Paws & Claws.

I inspect deliveries. ✔️
I supervise the boss ✔️
I conduct extremely important treat research. ✔️😋
I monitor the wildlife situation.✔️
I occasionally sleep on the job.✔️😴
And I make sure the humans don't take themselves too seriously. 😜

But I've been thinking… I'd quite like to get to know some of you a little better too.

So I've got a very important question to ask:

Good evening, nature lovers… Ernie here, your very own David Attenborough/Bill Oddie of the dog world. 🐾🎥

I’ve been out doing some very important wildlife research this week, and I have a message for all you garden bird lovers.

Now might seem like a lovely time of year — the weather is still quite nice 🌞 and the birds seem to have plenty to eat. But us professional wildlife experts know that things can change very quickly! 👀

So if you’re thinking about putting up a nesting box, now is a great time. 🏠🐦 The birds can get used to it before they start looking for somewhere to nest next year.

And when the colder weather arrives, our little feathered friends will need a helping paw with their food too. 🥶

Luckily, the boss has got the wildlife department completely covered at Peak Paws & Claws!

We’ve got:
🐦 Bird feeders
🏠 Nesting boxes
🌳 Bird tables
🥜 Peanuts
🌻 Sunflower seeds
🌻 Sunflower hearts
❤️ Robin food
🌾 Mixed bird food
💚 Suet and lots of other tasty treats

And if you don't need a whole bag, don't worry — lots of our bird food is sold loose, so we can weigh out exactly as much as you need 👍😊

This means less waste, more choice and, most importantly, happy birds. 🐦❤️

Anyway, I’ve got to go now. There’s a robin staring at me suspiciously and I need to investigate. 🕵️

Hello everyone, well, Sunday night is here, which means one thing…

I’ve got a busy week ahead of me at the shop. 😴😂

Tuesday = 🚚 NEW STOCK DAY!
Wednesday = 🚗 DELIVERY DAY!
Thursday = 📦 FILL-THE-SHELVES-BEFORE-THE-WEEKEND DAY!

And apparently I’m expected to “help”. 🙄

There’ll be bird food to bag up — sunflower hearts, peanuts, fruit table, robin food and, of course, ALL the tasty suet.

Then there’s the dog biscuits…
Gravy bones ✔️
Milky bones ✔️
Bonio ✔️

And that’s before we even get to the REALLY exciting stuff…

🐷 Pig’s ears
🐃 Buffalo horns
🐔 Chicken feet
…and all sorts of other delicious things that make my tail wag just thinking about them.

To be honest, our shop is basically a sweet shop for dogs. 🍬🐶

We even have dogs who come along with their humans when their humans had absolutely NO intention of coming into the shop.

But the dog knows.

The dog sees the door.

The dog pulls.

The human gives in.

And suddenly they’re inside getting a fuss, a cuddle and, obviously, a treat. 😂

I call that excellent customer service.

So if you’re coming into Matlock this week, keep an eye out for us — especially if you’ve got four legs and a weakness for snacks. 😋

Now I’d better get some sleep…

Tuesday’s stock delivery isn’t going to unpack itself.

Although I have suggested to Dad that he could probably manage it while I supervise from my bed.

He didn’t seem impressed.

🎒📚 Hi everyone, well it's back to school.... and apparently back to work for me too! Which can only mean one thing…

Ernie’s School of Pet Supplies has a new term starting! 🎓🐶

Next week's timetable looks something like this:

📖 English – Reading the ingredients on your pet’s food (very important… apparently “whatever smells nicest” isn’t an acceptable answer 🙄).

➕ Maths – Working out how many treats you can fit in your mouth at once 🤤😁

🔬 Science – Investigating why a squeaky toy stops squeaking after approximately 2 minutes😂🤣

🏃 PE – Chasing tennis balls around the shop and pretending you definitely meant to knock that display over.

🥣 Lunch – The best lesson of the day! Exploring all the delicious food, treats and goodies we have in stock. 😋

And of course, there’s Home Economics, where we teach humans the important things… like making sure the bird feeders are full and the dogs never, EVER run out of treats!

So while the kids are getting their new uniforms and school bags ready, pop in and make sure your four-legged, feathered and furry family members are ready for the new term too! 🐶🐱🐦

School may be back.... but thankfully there's no homework for me.

(Although apparently I am expected to tidy my toys away. Outrageous.) 🙄😂🐾

🐾 BANK HOLIDAY WEEKEND UPDATE! 🐾

Apparently it's Bank Holiday weekend.

You'd think that would mean I'd be putting my paws up, having a nice lie down and generally doing absolutely nothing useful.

WRONG. 🙄

The boss has given me a Bank Holiday Jobs List.

Apparently I have to:

🐾 Check the stock
🦴 Carry out some very important treat quality control
🧸 Test the toys
📦 Supervise the deliveries
🌧️ Monitor the weather
🐶 And make sure all the lovely customers' pets have everything they need for the weekend.

I've pointed out that I'm a DOG and therefore perfectly qualified for the first four jobs, but I'm not sure about the weather one. It's looking VERY wet! 🌧️

Actually, if the forecast is anything to go by, there might be a lot of wet and muddy paws around Matlock this weekend… so make sure your four-legged friends have everything they need before the rain arrives! 🐾☔

And if you do need to pop in for food, treats, toys or anything else, we're open as usual this Saturday…

…but CLOSED on Monday 31st August for the Bank Holiday. 🇬🇧

So apparently I get Monday off after all.
Although knowing the boss, he'll probably find me a job anyway. 🙄😂

Hello and happy Sunday evening 🙌
Sorry, I completely forgot to do my post this week. 🤦‍♂️
BUT in my defence, I’ve been VERY busy.
I’ve been swimming in the river 🌊, supervising important garden activities 🌿 and, most importantly, feeding the hedgehog 🦔.
Someone has to look after the local wildlife, and apparently that someone is me. 🙄
Did you know we sell hedgehog food at Peak Paws & Claws? 🦔🍽️
It’s really important that hedgehogs have access to the right food and plenty of fresh water, especially when natural food can be harder to find. So if you’ve got a prickly little visitor in your garden, pop in and have a chat with us about what to feed them. ❤️
The boss says I’ve been enjoying myself too much and have forgotten I have a job.
I prefer to think of it as work-life balance. 😂
Anyway, I’m back… although if anyone needs me, I’ll be by the river.

Hello everyone 🤗

Today I had a very important job to do at Peak Paws and Claws.
It was time for the boss's annual performance review. 😁

Now, I like to think I'm a fair manager, so I carefully assessed him in several key areas:

🐾 Speed of treat distribution – Needs improvement.
🐾 Response time when I ask for a walk – Needs significant improvement.
🐾 Ability to resist giving me snacks when I stare at him – Excellent.
🐾 Ear scratching technique – Outstanding.
🐾 Understanding that every customer has really come to see me – Still in training.
🐾Willingness to stock more treats for "quality control purposes" – Under review.

After much consideration, a few biscuits, and what may or may not have been a short nap during the meeting, I'm pleased to announce that the boss has passed his review and will be allowed to keep his job for another year. 👍✅ 😂

I know you're all relieved. 🤭

To celebrate, I've authorised him to get back to serving customers next week while I return to my important managerial duties of greeting visitors, inspecting deliveries and keeping an eye on the treat shelves.

Morning all 👋, this week I've been conducting some very important research .

The boss says it's called "checking stock levels". I say it's called "eating biscuits and getting paid for it". 😁

I've been having a look at our Skinners range and I can confirm that the Field & Trial food passes my rigorous inspection process. (Mainly sniffing it, staring at it hopefully and then trying to convince everyone I haven't been fed for at least six months.) 😆

At the moment we've got the handy 2.5kg bags in stock, but if you need the larger 15kg bags, the boss can order them in for you. 👍

Even more excitingly, I've heard rumours that we might be expanding the range soon with Skinners wet food and some of their new treats. 🙌😋

As Head of Quality Control, I have volunteered to test every single one of them. It's a tough job, but someone has to do it.😜

If you'd like us to stock more of the Skinners range, pop in and let the boss know. The more interest there is, the stronger my case becomes for "official taste-testing duties".

P.S. The boss says I should mention that taste-testing does not actually involve eating an entire bag in one sitting. I think he's being unnecessarily negative. 🤣😂
