Happy Veterinary Receptionist Appreciation Day! 💙

Today we’re celebrating our wonderful reception team - and the many different roles they take on behind the scenes at James Street Vets🐾 Every member of our reception team has their own responsibilities and areas of expertise!

Some of our team also have clinical roles, so they're involved in caring for your pets beyond the reception desk, helping to look after them when they stay at our Louth branch for surgery and more.

And, of course, there’s the everyday side of reception - welcoming clients and their pets, keeping appointments running smoothly, liaising with the vets and nurses, answering questions and making sure everyone feels looked after when they walk through our doors🐶🐱🐰

It really is a role that requires a little bit of everything - organisation, knowledge, empathy, patience and usually the ability to juggle about five things at once!

So today, we want to say a huge thank you to our reception team for everything you do, both in front of our clients and behind the scenes. 💙

Charlie visited us for a general health check, giving our team the chance to check his overall condition and make sure everything was looking as it should.

Regular health checks are an important part of caring for parrots, as birds can often hide signs of illness until they are quite unwell.

We're always happy to welcome our feathered, furry and scaled patients through our doors!

Digby popped in to see us for his flea & worming treatment, but first things first… a quick weigh-in! ⚖️

We always check your pet’s current weight so we can make sure they’re getting the correct dose for their preventative treatment. And even better...being a VIP Club member meant Digby’s visit was included at no extra cost — as well as his vaccinations! 🐶

Getting a new puppy is super exciting (for you and for us!), but what might their first appointment look like?

A vaccination - The first or second vaccination of a course (depending on their age and if they had a vaccination with a breeder)
Flea and worm treatment - A little tablet or spot on to protect against parasiticides
A health check - The vet may weight them, listen to their heart, and look inside their mouth
A treat! - A tasty treat can help reinforce that a trip to the vet doesn't have to be scary
