🐾 Never a Frown with Golden Brown 🐾

Meet Red, a beautiful Aussielabradoodle with the sweetest nature. At 9 years young, she’s one of my original doodles and has been with me throughout my grooming journey.

Over the years, I’ve practised new techniques, made my fair share of mistakes, and learned so much about caring for and styling the ever-challenging doodle coat—all thanks to this lovely girl. Red has been my patient model, and I’m so grateful for her.

A huge thank you also goes to her wonderful owners. They’ve always trusted me to try new ideas and have never clipped my wings. I think they’ve only had a little giggle at one or two of my early creations! 🤭

They’re absolute superstars when it comes to home grooming too. They brush Red so thoroughly between appointments that I rarely find a tangle and never a mat, and that makes such a difference, not only to the quality of her groom but also to Red’s comfort and her final groom. Their dedication to the job at hand is the best, it maybe the fear of my frown 🫣🐾

Looking back at some of Red’s very first grooms reminds me just how far I’ve come. She used to take me hours, and I even hand-scissored her from nose to tail! Thankfully, Red’s coat grows like weeds, so any little mishaps soon disappeared before her next 5–6 weekly appointment.

Thank you, Red, for being such a wonderful girl, and thank you to your amazing family for trusting me all these years. Here’s to many more happy grooms together! ❤️✂️🐶

Shedding the Past - Making the Goldie Shine 🐾

Forest Tails was recommended on a local community page for a recently rescued elderly Golden Retriever, Seb, and I was so grateful to be chosen to help. (thank you everyone who recommended me, it means so much)

From the photos, it was hard to tell if Seb was overweight or simply carrying years of compacted coat. After meeting him and his lovely family, I knew this groom would make a real difference.

Seb was as cool as a cucumber, happily relaxing while I gently removed the deeply compacted coat from his chest, undercarriage and bottom—only lifting his head for the occasional treat!

Dogs never cease to amaze me. They seem to know when they’re being helped.

Wishing you all the best, Mr. Seb. It was a pleasure to be a small part of your new journey. ❤️🐾

⚠️🐾 TICK & FLEA ALERT – NEW FOREST 2026 🐾

Ticks and fleas are very active again this year across Hampshire and the New Forest, especially in woodland, long grass, bracken, and heathland areas. Nearly every dog I’ve groomed over the last few weeks has had at least one tick hidden amongst its coat.

Please make sure your dog’s flea and tick treatment is up to date, and always check your dog thoroughly when you get home from a walk.

NP. We’re finding that some shop-bought treatments aren’t providing enough protection this season. If you’re concerned, speak to your vet about the most suitable preventative treatment for your dog to help stop unwanted critters coming home from your walks.

‼️Every full groom or bath and dry throughout the summer will be offered a flea and tick shampoo treatment at no extra cost ‼️

🎬 Lights, Camera, Action!

I often record my grooms so I can review each session, spot any subtle behaviours I may have missed, understand what a dog may have been anxious about, and keep improving my work.

Here’s a little behind-the-scenes snapshot of my working day. 🐾

Oh Mother Fluffer, Stop Everything.

The doodle curls have entered their main character era.
This bottle of magic has officially turned tangled chaos into ‘excuse me, are you on a Disney set?’ energy.
Detangles, hydrates, de-frizzes… basically it’s a spa day in a bottle

Under the Curls: Maddie’s Story

Maddie came to Forest Tails a few months ago after being rescued with a severely matted coat.

She’s had a few short bath and tidy visits since then, but today was her first full groom. No guardian with her—just Maddie and me, chilled out together in the space.

As that heavy coat came off, she just relaxed more and more. Proper little moment watching her settle into herself again.

Maddie is a Lagotto Romagnolo—an Italian truffle-hunting breed known for their incredible noses, soft nature, and curly coats that need regular care to stay comfortable.

“Look what the groomer did to my dog.”

No… the matting did.

Please read on before judging what comes out from under those mats. ❤️🐾
