✨ Flick's Back for a Top Up! ✨

Some dogs don't need to start again... they just need a little polish.

Flick first joined us around 16 months ago, and she's now back for a two week top up to build on everything she achieved during her previous stay.

Since going home she's done brilliantly in many areas, but there are still a few things her owners would like to fine tune. During this visit we'll be focusing on reducing her lead reactivity towards other dogs, improving her reactions to the doorbell and people passing the house, and reinforcing a strong bed command so she can stay calm even when visitors arrive.

It's always great to welcome familiar faces back through our doors, and we're looking forward to helping Flick take that next step in her training journey. 🐾

✨ Meet Bear ✨

"Behind all that barking is a dog who's simply unsure of the world around him."

Bear is a three year old German Shepherd who has joined us for residential training.

He's a bright, affectionate dog who loves training, but he finds the outside world overwhelming. People, dogs, cyclists, wildlife and even traffic can all trigger barking and lunging, while excitement often leads to pulling on the lead and struggling to stay engaged with his handler. He's also prone to separation anxiety and can become overly excited when greeting familiar people.

During his stay we'll be focusing on building Bear's confidence, improving his lead manners, helping him stay calm around everyday distractions, and teaching him that he doesn't need to react to everything he sees.

We're looking forward to sharing Bear's journey with you over the coming weeks. 🐾

"Sometimes the biggest challenge isn't teaching new skills. It's changing how a dog feels."

Oakley is an 18 month old English Springer Spaniel who has joined us for residential training.

He's a bright, energetic young dog who struggles with resource guarding, particularly around items he finds valuable. He can also become overexcited when visitors arrive, finds it difficult to cope when left alone, and can be selective about listening once distractions appear.

During his stay we'll be focusing on addressing his guarding behaviour, helping him develop calmer emotional responses, improving his engagement with his handler, and building the confidence to make better decisions in everyday life.

We're looking forward to helping Oakley grow into a calmer, more confident dog and sharing his journey with you over the coming weeks. 🐾

"She's always watching... the challenge is helping her realise she doesn't have to react."

Clover is a two year old Catalan Sheepdog who has joined us for residential training.

She's a clever, active dog who can become reactive towards other dogs, people, cyclists, joggers and fast-moving vehicles. When several triggers appear together she can quickly become overwhelmed, making it difficult for her to stay calm and make good decisions.

During her stay we'll be focusing on building Clover's confidence, reducing her reactivity, improving her engagement with her handler, and helping her stay calm even when the world around her becomes busy.

"She loves life... sometimes just a little too much."

Ellie is a two and a half year old Working Cocker Spaniel who has joined us for residential training.

She's a happy, affectionate dog who loves people, other dogs and exploring the world, but her excitement can sometimes get the better of her. She has a tendency to pull on the lead, jump up to greet people, and becomes easily overwhelmed in new environments. Her owners would also like to improve her lead walking, steadiness, and confidence in unfamiliar places.

During her stay we'll be focusing on building calmer behaviours, improving her engagement with her handler, developing better impulse control, and helping her stay relaxed and focused when excitement levels rise.

"He's a clever lad... sometimes he just thinks he knows better."

William is a two and a half year old Working Cocker Spaniel who has joined us for residential training.

He's a bright, energetic dog with a solid foundation in training, but like many working cockers he can become distracted once he's out in the real world. His owners would like to improve his lead walking, build more consistency in his recall, and help him stay focused around everyday distractions. He also struggles with separation from his owner and has a habit of jumping up when he's excited.

During his stay we'll be focusing on improving William's engagement with his handler, developing calmer manners, strengthening his obedience in real-world situations, and helping him become more confident when apart from his owner.

"He's not being naughty... he's just so excited that he forgets to think."

Ozzy is a one year old Border Collie x Labrador who has joined us for residential training.

He's a bright, energetic young dog who loves people and other dogs, but his excitement can quickly spill over into pulling on the lead, jumping up, barking, and struggling to listen once he's outside the house. He also finds joggers, cyclists and fast-moving distractions difficult to ignore, and has developed some resource guarding around food and toys with the other dog at home.

During his stay we'll be focusing on improving Ozzy's engagement with his handler, building calmer behaviours around people and dogs, developing better impulse control, and helping him make good decisions even when the world around him is exciting.

Meet the Team – Erin

Hi, I’m Erin.

After leaving the Army in 2024, I decided to pursue my passion for working with dogs by joining the team at Next Level Dog Training.

During my military career, I had the opportunity to work closely with patrol and detection dog handlers, giving me valuable insight into canine behaviour, training and the strong bond that can be built between a dog and their handler.

I now own a German Shepherd and love continuing my learning both at home and at work. At Next Level Dog Training, I help care for our residential dogs, from preparing their meals and taking them on enriching woodland walks to ensuring their welfare and wellbeing throughout their stay.

Alongside caring for the dogs, I also support our training team by helping build the dogs up and preparing them for the next stages of their training journey. Whether it’s reinforcing good habits, building confidence or maintaining consistency, I enjoy playing a part in helping every dog progress.

I’m passionate about providing every dog with the highest standard of care and helping them feel settled, fulfilled and happy while they’re with us.
