ROLDA UK ROLDA UK activity consists of fundraising and rehoming of Romanian dogs in British homes (including transport of these dogs to UK)

ROLDA work started in Romania to efficiently solve the appalling problem of the country’s millions of homeless animals. Our keys focuses are rescue, rehabilitation and sheltering dogs and cats in our private shelters, rehoming dogs in the UK and other European countries. We also offer practical to low-income pet owners e.g. FriendsForever addressed to seniors with pets. As part of the education ca

mpaign, we distribute coloring books in schools, to teach kids to understand animal needs and respect them. ROLDA campaigns nationally for animal rights and provides humanitarian aid during disasters like the war in Ukraine, floods in Bulgaria. ROLDA UK is a small charity acting as “supporting organization” for the partner charity ROLDA Romania, the “global entity” to:
• raise awareness and financial support for ROLDA Romania for animals in need and for the poor Romanian communities struggling to look after their pets responsibly;
• find homes for rescue dogs by ROLDA Romania team, alongside compiling applications for grants to sustain our work;
• support other programs and campaigns initiated by ROLDA Romania, including providing Worldwide aid to animals and their people located in areas affected by natural of humane made disasters e.g. the war in Ukraine;
• build a network of fosters careers in order to bring dogs over for people to meet before they make a decision and also as a back-up for any unsuccessful adoptions.

Seven tiny new arrivals have joined us at ROLDA. ❤️‍🩹

These seven puppies were found abandoned together in Smârdan, just a short distance from our shelter. At such a young age, they had been left without anyone to provide the food, safety and care they depended on.

Thankfully, they were found and brought to us.

All seven have now been examined by our veterinary team, and we are very happy to share that they are healthy. Their vaccinations will begin soon, and for now, their days are filled with everything growing puppies should be able to count on: plenty of food, a safe place to sleep and people looking out for them. 🐾

Taking in seven puppies at once is a big commitment. They will each need vaccinations, ongoing care and support as they grow before they can eventually begin looking for families of their own.

There is just one important thing missing: these little ones need names!

The earthquakes may have ended weeks ago, but for one of our ROLDA Heroes in Venezuela, the aftermath has become part of everyday rescue work ❤️‍🩹

With your support, we have been able to send emergency funds directly to our ROLDA Hero, an independent animal rescuer, helping provide vital resources and medical care for animals affected by the earthquakes.

By supporting trusted independent rescuers who know their communities and the animals within them, ROLDA can help provide the resources they need to respond when animals are in danger.

Our ROLDA Hero was already helping vulnerable animals in Venezuela before the earthquakes struck. Now, she is continuing that work while also caring for animals displaced, injured or otherwise affected by the disaster.

Natural disasters can make an already difficult rescue situation much harder. Veterinary care may be needed for weeks after the initial emergency, while damaged homes and disrupted communities can leave more animals without somewhere safe to go.

At the same time, the animals who needed rescuing before the earthquakes still need her. The everyday emergencies continue, even while she deals with the additional pressure created by the disaster.

ROLDA will continue to stand behind our ROLDA Hero as her community recovers, helping her keep vital rescue work going for the animals depending on her. 🐾

This is what hope looks like ❤️‍🩹

Every wagging tail, every cuddle, every playful moment and every animal learning that people can be kind again.

This is what happens when frightened, abandoned animals are given safety, patience, and love ❤️‍🩹

For more than 20 years, our small ROLDA shelter has been a place where vulnerable dogs and cats have been able to heal, recover, and begin their journey towards a family of their own. Thousands of lives have been changed within these fences.

Now, we're building Little Haven, Romania's first cage-free rescue shelter.

Little Haven will give even more homeless dogs the freedom to run, play, socialise, and recover in an environment designed around their wellbeing. It will allow us to rescue more dogs, provide a better quality of life while they wait for adoption, and give them the best possible start on their journey to a forever home.

Every brick, every kennel replaced with open spaces, and every new enrichment area brings us one step closer to making that vision a reality.

Summer means more time outside with our dogs, but warmer days can bring additional risks for your pets ☀️😓

Dogs can overheat much more quickly than we might realise, and heatstroke can become a life-threatening emergency. Even everyday activities like walking, playing in the garden or travelling in the car need a little more consideration when temperatures rise.

Keeping your dog safe does not mean they have to miss out on all the fun. There are plenty of ways to adjust their routine, keep them comfortable and provide enrichment at home when it is simply too hot for their usual adventures.

We've put together some practical advice on preventing heatstroke, recognising the warning signs and keeping your dog safely entertained during hot weather.
