Thank you for this lovely review 🐾

"I can’t thank Vets Now enough for the care they gave Coco when we had to take her in unexpectedly. We were extremely worried about her, but the whole team was so kind, caring and reassuring. They treated Coco with so much patience and compassion and really took the time to help her when she was poorly. They made us feel listened to and kept us reassured throughout what was a very stressful time. I’m so grateful for everything they did for Coco and for how lovely everyone was with her. Thank you to the whole Vets Now team for helping our girl when she needed it most. ❤️🐾"

Happy National Fetch Day! 🐶

Is your dog a fetch fanatic, a ball chasing expert, or more of a you threw it, now you get it!!! kind of dog?

Fetch is a brilliant way to keep our doggies active and entertained, but there are a few things to watch out for to keep playtime safe!

🦴 Stick to suitable toys...Sticks can splinter and cause serious injuries to the mouth, throat and digestive tract. Choose a suitable dog toy or ball instead.

🎾 Choose the right-sized ball...Balls that are too small can become choking hazards.

🏃 Avoid over doing it...Lots of sprinting, sudden stops and sharp turns can put strain on joints and muscles, particularly in excitable and older dogs.

☀️ Watch out for overheating...Take regular breaks, especially in warmer weather, and always provide fresh water.

We'd love to see some action shots in the comments below!

Feedback Friday 🐾

"I have been here several times and there is always great care from all the staff. The hospital has so many facilities that it means they can handle complex cases without further travel and can also call on experts from other hospitals in their organisation. The vets and nursing staff really take on board what you say about your dog- if they are anxious etc which makes a huge difference for your dog. They listen to your concerns and I always feel my dogs are in safe hands. Very lucky to have this place so close to where I live."

We appreciate your lovely review ☺

Pet Obesity Awareness Day 🐾

We are all guilty spoiling our pets, but those extra treats can soon add up!

Carrying extra weight can increase the risk of health problems such as diabetes, arthritis and heart disease.

A few simple ways to help

Measure food portions carefully.
Keep treats to a minimum.
Encourage regular exercise and play.
Monitor their weight and body shape. (regular weight checks at your GP practice are a great way of doing this!)

Poor Bodie was seriously unwell when she arrived at our Vets Now Glasgow Hospital, suffering from vomiting, loss of appetite and very low energy.

After carrying out tests, our team discovered that Bodie had developed diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA), a life-threatening complication of diabetes, as well as pneumonia. 😥

But what exactly is diabetic ketoacidosis?

DKA occurs when the body doesn't have enough insulin to use glucose for energy. Instead, it begins breaking down fat, producing substances called ketones. When these build up in the blood, they can make it dangerously acidic.

Signs can include vomiting, loss of appetite, extreme tiredness and dehydration. It's a serious condition that requires urgent veterinary treatment.

Bodie spent five days in intensive care, receiving round-the-clock care from our Internal Medicine, Emergency and Critical Care, and Diagnostic teams.

Thankfully, we're delighted to share that Bodie is now back home and feeling much more like herself! ❤️

Her owners are learning how to manage her diabetes with insulin injections, with continued support from our Internal Medicine team.

Well done, Bodie! 🐾

World Mental Health Day ❤

Working in a veterinary referral hospital can be incredibly rewarding, but it can also be very challenging. Long shifts, emergency cases, difficult decisions, supporting worried owners and caring deeply for our patients can all take an emotional toll on all.

That’s why looking after ourselves and each other is just as important as looking after the animals that we care for 🐾

💚 Check in with your colleagues
💚 Take a break when you need one
💚 Talk about how you're feeling
💚 Ask for help when things feel difficult
💚 Remember that you don't have to cope alone

To everyone working in veterinary care, whether you're a vet, RVN, animal care assistant, receptionist or part of the wider team, thank you for everything you do!

"All the staff at Vets Now in Manchester were amazing. From my first conversation with the receptionist to speaking to the vets, I was put at ease and knew they would take great care of my dog Jensen. The vets listened to my concerns and included me in the plan for the best care for J. My dog had to spend two nights with them and on both mornings after, I received an update on how Jensen had been through the night. I cannot thank them enough for all they did for my dog."

We're so glad you had such a positive experience! 😀

Thank you so much for this lovely Google review!!

"Ruby came in on a Saturday morning with severe sickness, she was seen by the triage before a short wait for the vet. All nurses, vets and receptionist were so kind and compassionate. They explained everything that was happening to investigate, why and the cost upfront. After 24 hours she came out with medicine and is fully on the mend now. If claiming through insurance the process was made very easy for you as well."

Happy Veterinary Receptionist Appreciation Day! 🐾

Today we’re celebrating the amazing team at the front of our hospital who are often the first friendly face and voice our wonderful clients meet!

Our reception team do so much more than answer phones and greet clients. They juggle busy phones, appointments, worried pet owners, questions, queries and plenty of unexpected situations!!! (All while keeping things running smoothly behind the scenes. 📞🐶🐱)

They’re there to offer reassurance when things feel stressful, a friendly smile when clients arrive, and support for both our patients and the rest of our team. The clinical staff in the back would be lost without them!!!

Thank you to our incredible reception team for everything you do! You’re a huge part of what makes our hospital special! And today we celebrate YOU!
