You’ll wish you’d not asked for updates, you must be fed up of my e mails!!! But we’re so excited this happened last night. It’s been difficult keeping Ruby off the settee as she has always had to be ‘doing’ such as chewing deer antler or some other dried part of animal anatomy!!! She hadn’t managed to chill in ‘place’ like she would on the settee....but finally last night she managed to relax and fall asleep 😁.

First Rebalance Pack Walk done.

Everyone did really well. In fact, I can pretty much guarantee everyone did better than they thought they would.

Having a repeatable structure the dogs as well as the humans can rely on is key to making progress with a dog that feels anxious or can be reactive

It was great for everyone to meet other owners that are also putting in the work with their dogs. Sometimes you need to see yourself alongside other people to realise that, despite how loud your own negative self talk can be, you actually look like you know exactly what you’re doing.

The public were, in the main, really respectful and gave us the space we needed.

And the ones who weren’t?

They gave us some excellent unexpected training opportunities 😂

Therefore place training and teaching her an off switch builds confidence in herself with the ability to self regulate.
I get that it can be really nice for us to feel needed, but not only is it not good for them, it isn’t great for us either.

Crackers had her visit with our amazing vet Rebecca yesterday. We had grown concerned about the noise of her breathing sometimes. Rebecca listened to her chest and confirmed it as COPD, possibly from passive smoking when she was with her original owner. She has come home with some medication to help support her airways. We will make sure she gets all the care she needs. She’s a fighter this one (that also likes a lot of cuddles and kisses, with me anyway… so far 😊)
