After a little incident we had early this morning I’d like to post offering some advice if I may ☺️ i completely understand some people are afraid of dogs so this post is honestly meant to help rather than judge. When you wear your hood over your head a dog can find it very difficult to read you and will often automatically initially persevere you as some kind of possible threat. This can be even more apparent in the dark as some dogs are on alert even more than usual. Both of my own dogs are working breeds and both have been trained to be on guard and watch over both myself and the dogs we look after to keep us all safe especially as we walk around in the dark early in the mornings SO when you appear out of nowhere dressed head to toe in black ( when it’s also pitch black outside ) they absolutely WILL give you a warning not to approach us. All my dogs are ALWAYS on lead around ANY members of the public. This morning whilst walking to the park with 4 of them a lady stopped in her tracks across a busy main road ( we was on the other side so a very safe distance away) my dogs saw her and gave their warning. I stopped completely still with all of them under complete control, reassured them that it was safe to sit and wait to see which direction she was taking and rather than carrying on with where she was going she proceeded to shout and make a big fuss 🤦🏻‍♀️ which of course the dogs then thought that she was a threat to us as she was in effect ‘barking’ at us. I get this lady was just unsure and probably a little scared of dogs BUT what she did was create a situation that was completely unnecessary 😣 I then had to control 4 dogs all in a heightened state of arousal next to a very busy main road 🙄 dogs feed off energy, both eachothers and other peoples SO if you see someone walking dogs in the distance ON lead please keep calm, keep quiet and I can guarantee 9 times out of 10 they will be more interested in their walk/destination than you ONCE they have gauged that you are not a threat to THEM 😉

This gorgeous pup is Freddy and he has suffered a suspected snake bite while walking at Boggart Hole Clough.😔

Freddy’s condition deteriorated rapidly after what initially appeared to be a graze on his front leg, with his owner, Rebecca Webster, later being told by her vet that two puncture marks were consistent with a snake bite.😮

The injury has left the young dog facing the possibility of specialist surgery costing between £4,000 and £8,000, with vets warning that dead tissue may need to be removed from his leg.

Rebecca is now seeking answers about what could have bitten Freddy at Boggart Hole Clough and whether there have been any other reports of snakes or similar incidents in the area.

She is particularly concerned about the possibility of another animal, or even a child playing in the park, suffering a similar injury 💔

Freddy, who was off his lead, was running through an area of woodland and long grass when he suddenly stopped for a second or two before carrying on as normal.

At the time, his owner did not suspect anything was wrong. However, that evening he became more cuddly than usual, and by the following morning his front leg had swollen and he was limping.

His condition quickly worsened and his entire leg swelled up and he stopped eating. By the following morning, the wound was oozing what his owner described as bloody pus, prompting her to rush him back to the vet 😢

Freddy was admitted and sedated so the wound could be cleaned and examined more closely. Later that afternoon, Rebecca received a phone call that left her stunned.

She said: "I got a phone call that afternoon and it was like, 'It looks like he's been bitten by a snake'.

“There were two clear fang marks, puncture wounds in his front left leg. I was like, 'What? A snake in Manchester? Come on'. You'd never expect it."

She said: "I just don't understand what kind of snake could have done it. Was it an exotic one that had escaped or been released? You just don't know, do you?"

The ordeal has been made even more difficult by the devastating news that Phoebe, Rebecca’s other dog, was diagnosed with terminal lymphoma just days before Freddy's suspected bite💔

Such awful news 😔

We are very pleased to announce we have now filled our very last space on the Madfurit wall as our Bertie will now be joining Biscuit up there ❤️ Our daycare gang is full & complete once more. This also means our books are now closed again and i would like to thank all those who got in touch and I’m very sorry that on this occasion i was unable to accommodate you. For my little gang to work the way it does I have to go with which dogs I feel will best fit with all the other personalities we have here. It has absolutely no reflection on you or your amazing dogs ###
