I havent posted in a while
And the reason for that has been simple, im embarrassed at the state of the dog walking industry. Not just locally, but nationwide from what I see online too
I see a lot of dog walkers, and not many professionals.
I see many under cutting prices by a lot
I see new dog walkers attempting to charge upto Β£5 more than actual professionals
I see dog walkers quit after being established for years due to the cost of fuel and everything else included in being a professional
Myself, being a professional. Invested approximately 20 thousand pounds into Waynes pet services this year.
Its got me down. Not spending the business money, but all the people who dont invest in basics. Its the least that should be done.
We have taken many dogs from dog walkers who just arent putting in the effort or doing the basics. This is not my problem, and it shows we are doing and providing more.
We have had ZERO sick days between us
Zero holidays
We work relentlessly
And today there was an incident. An aggressive one.
And the words hurt after everything we do for this business and our dogs/clients as we know for a fact we are doing the most.
A fully grown man, verbally abusing Tasha on her group walk. A walk she and I have done many times, both together or individually.
Our first rule is, if you see a dog we put ours on lead instantly. Safety first our number one priority.
Secondly space. We give everyone enough space.
Today she was approached by a very aggressive man and his dog which wears a yellow lead that says anxious.
He approached Tasha and a very well behaved group of 5 we know very well.
Tashas dogs was on lead, rule number 1.
The man they continued to call tasha a con man and a rip off, saying the dogs wasnt getting any exercise on lead. I mean come on? Hes brought a reactive dog we have seen him walk many times to a full pack he has never met. Common sense?
Some dog walkers we have witnessed wouldn't of put there dogs on leads, we see it daily. We arent just some dog walkers. We are professionals. And we have common sense, knowledge and understanding of dogs.
This miserable old man continued to shout abuse and swear at a 5 foot 17 year old girl
Little did he know, Tasha had asked me to come to her on the radio as he stood stalking her with his reactive dog making his way closer.
When i found the man, I asked him what his problem was. He continued to tell me Tasha was ripping people off by not exercising there dogs.
I explained tasha is a fantastic dog walker, and she has a full years experience and shadowed me for even longer. She knows the job inside out now. She did everything right
But he insisted we was conning people
I told him where to go, and he did for a minute.
He got in his car and reversed at me on purpose, not once but twice he tried to run me over
Safety is my main priority, myself, Tasha and ruby have plans in place incase of real emergencies. We are professionals. We do not wing anything.
I do not tolerate, abuse to my colleagues, anybody putting my dogs in danger or myself. I take this very seriously and I will retaliate if anyone puts any of us in danger.
I recorded the 7 minute ordeal, and the not so gentleman also filmed it.
Our clients have updates on every walk. They know where we go every walk. They know our procedures on every walk
We are not one of the busiest and most popular dog walkers in the area for no reason.
We aim for greatness. We do more than most, this is why we are held in such high regard.
I am not one to blow my own trumpet at all, many of you know me very well. We have got where we are today with out any help from anyone
Just hard work, serious effort and aiming to be the best.
Today has me questioning, are the people who left dog walking right to do so?
The government make it almost impossible, other 'professional' dog walkers make it harder
And some of the public are appalling.
If anyone sees me tagged in the video from today
Please tag me, i have nothing to hide.
Im just a passionate man, with nothing but my small business, dogs and my friends I will die to protect
Hopefully he learnt a lesson today, he should not bully people
A picture of Tasha with the boys.
You handled today as amazing as any other day, you are amazing at your job and dont let anyone tell you any different
Have a great weekend everyone
