Service & Welfare Policy

All grooming is carried out with the pet’s comfort and welfare as the priority. Grooms may be adjusted, paused or stopped if continuing would cause stress, pain, or risk to the pet or groomer. Coat condition, behaviour, age and health may affect the final finish.

🧡 Homeward bound! ✈️ 🧡

After a lovely break in Gran Canaria, I'm flying back home today. I can'twait to see the kids (my dogs and cats, of course) and the hubby in that order🤣.

It's been lovely having some time away, but I'm looking forward to getting back to work on Monday and seeing all your gorgeous dogs and cats again. I've missed them.

I'll catch up with any remaining messages once I'm back home, so thank you for your patience.

Over five years of grooming and I think the biggest thing I’ve learnt is that the pets and their owners have taught me just as much as any course ever could.

I’m still learning, improving and absolutely love what I do. I think Day One me would be pretty proud. 🧡

🧡 Something owners may never think about… grooming gets physically harder when a dog's carrying extra weight. 🧡

This isn’t a dig at anyone. It’s simply something that can affect your dog during their groom.

Standing for periods of time, moving their legs for nails or paw trims, turning, balancing and being moved into different positions can all be uncomfortable when a dog is carrying extra weight.

I give them more breaks, let them sit or lie down, or adapt the groom around what they can manage, as always, I work with the dog in front of me.

If you’re concerned about your dog’s weight, it’s always worth having a chat with your vet.

😱 The Matted Menace… coming this October to a groomer near you! 😱

It hides in plain sight, it grows in the dark… and before you know it, those knots have turned into matting.
A little October fun, but with a serious side.

Matting can be uncomfortable for your pet. It pulls on the skin, restricts their movement and can feel like wearing a straight-jacket.

I see dogs and cats that seem like a different pet once matting has been removed, running around, stretching and acting like kittens and puppies again.

Unfortunately, once matting is tight to the skin, it can’t be brushed out as it would be too painful for them.

🧡It's not just a groom...🧡

Three things I always check before I even pick up a brush, I’m already looking and listening to what your pet is telling me.

I check for any sore or sensitive areas, watch how they’re standing and moving, and having a proper look and feel through their coat before deciding how I’m going to approach their groom.

Throughout the groom I’m also checking the skin and coat condition, looking for lumps and bumps, parasites, grass seeds, matting or anything else that maybe wasn't there last time.

Sometimes I’ll notice a little area they suddenly don’t want touched, or a change in how they’re holding themselves that could suggest something is uncomfortable.

As a groomer I can’t diagnose, but I can let you know when I spot something that I think you should be aware of and maybe requires a vet visit for checking.

🧡 Just look at this gorgeous little fella can you believe he’s 12 years old! 🧡

Before he came to me, this lovely boy was muzzled during grooming. He also has an autoimmune condition which means his feet can be particularly sensitive and he really doesn’t like them being touched.

I take a different approach and work with him and what he can cope with on the day, this can vary each visit. He may not always have the most perfect groom, but that doesn’t matter to me. What matters is that he’s listened to and I don’t push him past his comfort level just to achieve that perfect finish.

He’s such a lovely little fella and is always happy to see me, which means far more to me than a perfect haircut ever could.

I just love a Schnauzer with those eyebrows, beard and usually lots of attitude to go with them.

They’re such little characters and definitely let you know if they’re not happy about something. But they are also clever, loyal and loving dogs.

So let’s celebrate all the lovely Schnauzers out there today on National Schnauzer Day.
