The George Equine Vets

We deliver excellence for the health, welfare and performance of our team, clients and patients. We provide high quality veterinary care for your horses.

Our 4 vet equine team offers an ambulatory service throughout Wiltshire and Gloucestershire. With digital portable x-ray, ultrasound scanners, endoscopy and gastroscope we can deliver the best possible treatment and care for your horses wherever they are. All our vets can be contacted either directly or via our office where our excellent administrative staff will be able to help and arrange visits as needed.

‼️‼️ Our next client evening ... Monday 14th September from 630pm at George Veterinary Hospital in Malmesbury. Join us for an evening all about caring for your more senior horses, ponies and donkeys 🩺🐴

There will be nibbles and drinks provided and a raffle with prizes to win with all the money raised going to Brooke Foundation charity.

This evening is free for our healthy horse and donkey club members 🤩

Huge congratulations to Laura who has qualified for Badminton grassroots 2027 after winning BE Regional final at Bicton earlier this month🐎🏆

Janine has been busy fence judging and last weekend was at the Hartbury eventing championships 🐴 ☀️

Do keep an eye out for us and we always love catching up with you out and about ‼️

Meet the team who look after your horses ❤️

Janine🐴 Equine administrator

Janine joined the George Equine team in July 2025 and joins Jennie in the equine office. After a career in business, Janine is combining her admin skills and love of horses in the perfect job.

Janine has evented up to BE100 and is currently bringing on a young homebred 3 year old, Herbie. She still dabbles with low level eventing and riding club activities with her horse, Bonbon.

Outside of work you can find Janine at local events as an experienced BE fence judge and former Chairman of the VWH riding club. Janine enjoys chatting with clients and catching up with horsey friends.

Jennie 🐴 Equine administrator

Jennie has been at the practice since 2004 and works alongside Janine in the equine office. Between them, they will be your first point of contact when you contact the practice.

Jennie helps to keep the vets’ days running as smoothly as possible, booking appointments and handling client queries alongside dealing with insurance claims, client accounts and all the general admins tasks to keep the office as efficient as possible!

Outside of work Jennie is usually found at the yard with her semi-retired 31-year-old mare Rosa (featured in the picture in their competition days!) and new addition Sammy, who she is hoping to bring her competition whites back out with!

Meghan 🩺 Equine Vet

Meghan graduated from Nottingham vet school in 2015 and spent the next few years working as an ambulatory vet and completing an internship in a busy referral hospital prior to joining The George Equine Vets in 2019.

Meghan loves getting to know your horses, ponies and donkeys and particularly enjoys building lasting relationships with our clients. She enjoys all aspects of ambulatory work from the challenge of lameness investigations to caring for your geriatric ponies to help them enjoy their golden years.

Outside of work, Meghan is often busy with family life but when time allows can be found having adventures with her Whippet, Rhona, seeing friends or staying active at the gym.

Laura 🩺 Equine Vet

Laura graduated from Liverpool in 2005 and spent several years working alongside specialist teams in equine hospitals and referral clinics before joining The George Equine Vets in 2014.

Laura particularly enjoys investigating poor performance cases and carrying out pre-purchase examinations, helping owners make informed decisions and getting horses performing at their best. She also loves routine ambulatory work, building lasting relationships with clients and getting to know you, your horses (and donkeys too!). The variety of equine practice is what makes every day different, and she always enjoys hearing what you and your horses have been up to—whether you're competing, hacking or simply enjoying time together. Better still, she loves seeing familiar faces when she's out and about!

When she's not at work, Laura is usually busy chauffeuring her two children and their ponies, walking her Hungarian Vizsla, Kola, or finding a little time to go eventing herself. 🐴

A few fun facts about Laura... she loves sunshine ☀️, chocolate 🍫 and can never say no to a good cup of tea! ☕

Ellie 🩺 Equine Vet

Ellie graduated from Nottingham vet school in 2022. She completed an equine internship at a busy equine hospital in Kent before joining the George Equine team nearly 2 years ago. Ellie enjoys all aspects of first opinion practice but especially internal medicine and dental work, and is currently working towards a certificate in equine dentistry.

Outside of work Ellie enjoys spending more time outdoors camping, seeing friends and staying active at the gym.

☀️Keeping your horses cool ☀️

With temperatures due to rise again here are some tips to help your horses stay cool in the heat:

💦 Access to plenty of fresh water at all times (horses can drink up to 50-70L water a day!)
🌳 Access to shade at all times
🐎 Only exercise early in the morning or late at night when temperatures have reduced
💦 Effective cooling with application of cold water (hose is perfect!) especially after exercise, travelling or after time spent in direct sunlight
☀️Sun protection for horses with pink skin or grey/white hair
