☀️ Important Animal Welfare Update – Extreme Heat ☀️
Due to the exceptionally hot weather forecast, and with the welfare of our animals as our absolute priority, all interactive animal sessions will be temporarily withdrawn from Monday 22nd June until further notice.
Our dedicated animal care team will be focusing on ensuring that all animals remain as comfortable as possible throughout this period. Measures being taken include:
💧 Providing additional fresh water and hydration opportunities
🌳 Offering extra shade and cooling areas
❄️ Supplying species-appropriate cooling enrichment
🩺 Increased welfare monitoring throughout the day
Whilst we appreciate that our interactive sessions are a popular part of a visit, we are sure our visitors will understand that animal welfare must always come first.
For those with pre booked tickets, we will still host talks and anyone that has booked meerkat meet and greets, these will remain unaffected.
🐶 Please also note that, due to the extreme temperatures, dogs will not be permitted into the zoo during this period. This decision has been made to help protect the welfare of visiting dogs and prevent heat-related illness.
We thank all our visitors for their understanding and support as we continue to put the welfare of our animals first.
Stay safe, stay cool, and we look forward to welcoming you to Maldon Promenade Zoo.
