Shadow K9 Training Welcome! Are you looking for a fully qualified and insured dog trainer in Essex? Check out my 5* Google reviews and message me to find out if I can help

I have been animal crazy since I was born and have had a range of animals over the years but the one constant in my life has been dogs. I grew up with Chow Chows and Pyrenean Mountain dogs as family dogs. As a young child I helped train my neighbours Doberman and a family friends Rottweiler and German Shepard (she told me I was 5 when I spent all my time in her garden with both dogs and they learn

t something new after every visit). Later on my parents had an aggressive at everything Shih Tzu which I helped his reactivity and loved the challenge a reactive dog brings and watch them grow. During my 20’s my friend and I helped a charity take dogs from mistreated homes and transported them to their foster home before they were rehomed. These days my parents have a fairly quite in comparison (only dog aggressive to some dogs) Larzarapso and my husband and I have a “Son” (as I don’t do human children), a Doberman who’s 2.5 years. My house, however is always full of all kinds of breeds as 2 of my close friends are dog walkers and 1 is a trainer and the dogs learn to hang out in the same room and not having to interact all the time while we drink coffee - win,win 🤣
Over the years friends and family have told me to qualify as a trainer as they’ve always felt I would be good but life has excuses. My career has always been extremely busy (I travel the country training surgeons and nurses in all things eye surgery and am hardly at home). This year (2023) I’ve decided to allow myself to do something for me and now am qualifying under the "Dog Training College" to put a dream into action!

All the dry land and overgrown routes we take on our dog walks can make you think you’re on an adventure across the wilderness

Real video of me showing the boy how to work through something he was scared of out on a walk. It’s what I don’t do that’s more important.

Do you know what this is and why it’s so important?

They’re “check in’s”.
They’re important because:
1. They ensure your dog is still listening to you even around distractions
2. They ensure they don’t run to such a distance you can’t see them. Have sight and keep control always
3. Shows trust that look to you for guidance

This has happened to me many times before! No problem with large reactive dogs or horses for that matter but a small spider and I’m gone. makes no rational sense but it’s real

Recall doesn’t happen overnight but with correct structures it can happen, regardless of your dogs age

You need to train from different pictures. Can you recall from the garden but won’t listen in a park with other dogs? That’s a different picture

You need accountability.
Long lines so they can never mug you off.
Most people also take these off too early before it’s really set in

Need to take account of adolescence.
A young puppy will always come back to you, it’s scared of the bigger world but once adolescence hits, it’s a whole other ball game!
Don’t get lulled into a force sense of security.

Those that don’t do these things are the same people who say “don’t worry my dog is friendly” as they can’t control who he/she bounds up to. Don’t be this person. Start putting some of these things into practice today!

Best part of my job is when I’ve guided someone to a milestone they never thought was possible and now they and their dogs are living their best lives!!!!
2 clients shared their individual milestones they’ve been working on. I knew it was possible if they put in the work and they did! Congratulations on having the life you wanted with your dogs.
