The pitter patter of tiny paws 🐾

While her name may be Lilith, this absolute sweetheart was anything but when she came in for her pregnancy scan 🤰🏻

Ultrasound can be used to confirm a pregnancy, as well as to monitor foetal heartbeats. But don’t expect your vet to give you a number! While we can give you a rough idea of how many little ones to expect, there is usually at least one hiding somewhere. So you’ll have to take any figure with a pinch of salt 🧂

Pop to the comments to see a video of Lilith’s scan 💚

We loved having the adorable Callie in today to see vet Aleks for her dental procedure 🦷🪥

Callie needed a dental after a fractured tooth was spotted at her last health check. During the procedure we discovered that Callie in fact had 4(!) broken teeth, all of which needed to be removed 😱

Dogs can fracture their teeth in a few different ways. This can be trauma, such as a fall or a car accident. Or it can also be caused by repeated chewing on hard objects, such as bones. When teeth are fractured it can cause pain and discomfort, and sometimes they will stop eating. The fracture can also lead to a tooth root abscess as bacteria from food and debris can get below the gum line. An abscess can cause localised swelling, and this can affect other areas such as the nose or eyes 🤕

If you have any concerns about your pet’s teeth, please give us a call on 01622 755098 📞

Despite her unhappiness at being a kennel, Callie went home as if nothing had happened and we look forward to seeing her back in a few weeks 💚

Callie is also a member of our VIP plan, which means she got 10% off today’s procedure 🤩

Peek-a-boo!

The lovely Leo decided to keep a sharp eye on vet Aleks today as he and his sister Daisy visited us for their annual booster 👀

Annual boosters aren’t just a yearly injection, but a chance for your pet to have a full nose-to-tail health check, and to discuss any concerns you may have with the vet. When we see our pets every day it can be hard to notice gradual changes over time, so a regular health check helps us keep track of your pets physical condition, especially as they age 🐕🐈‍⬛🩺

As an added benefit, our VIPs get their annual booster included on their plan! Plus if you sign up now, you can get the first 6 months of the home delivery plan for the price of standard! 😱

Our VIP benefits include:

✅ Annual vaccination including kennel cough
✅ A complimentary health check 6 months after vaccination
✅ A year supply of flea and worm treatment
✅ 10% off all treatments and services
✅ 30% off select Royal Canin, Hills and Virbac food

For more information give us a call on 01622 755098, or you can visit our website to sign up now! 💚

🦷 Delightful Deni’s Dental 🦷

This adorable little man is Deni who came in recently for his dental procedure 🪥🦷

Chihuahuas like Deni are considered a brachycephalic, or flat-faced breed. This means they can be more likely to suffer from dental issues as they have the same number of teeth as a larger breed such as a Greyhound or German Shepherd, but in a much smaller space 🐶🐕

This over-crowding means that they often have overlapping, twisted or rotated teeth. In some cases, like Deni, they will need to have these teeth extracted 👩🏽‍⚕️👨🏼‍⚕️

Fortunately Deni was more than comfortable wrapped up in his bed, and didn’t let a little thing like tooth extractions get him down 💚

🍴World Food Day🍴

On this World Food Day, we’d like to share some helpful tips and tricks about feeding our beloved pets 😸🐶

One of the most important things we tell our owners, is that it doesn’t always matter what you feed your pets, as long as you’re careful about how much. All available pet foods provide adequate nutrition for our animals, however the amount we feed can vary depending on our specific pet. Animals metabolisms can vary much like humans, so you may need to adjust the recommended feeding amount to suit your own pet’s needs ⚖️

It’s very important to feed your pet the correct diet for their age, but it can be difficult for our large breed puppies to get the volume they need. Large breed diets are really helpful, as they allow for our puppies to get the calories they need to grow in a smaller volume of food 🥘

Sometimes our pets need to move on to a specialised diet for a health condition, for example urinary or liver issues. These diets have been specially formulated to assist with these health conditions, and often need to be given exclusively. Transitioning your pet into these diets can take a bit of time, and it’s important that this is done slowly to prevent stomach upsets ⏱️

If you have any questions about your pet’s diet, you can always talk to one of our vets or nurses 💚

🚨🚨🚨

Due to unforeseen circumstances, Pinebank’s phone lines will not be open until 9am today.

If you have an emergency prior to that please head straight to the clinic. Alternatively you can call our sister practice Manor Veterinary Surgery on 01634 407777 and they will be able to help you 📞

We apologise for any inconvenience caused 💚
