Lake Farm Days

Lake Farm Days Family-owned farm specialising in rare breeds, running various rural and sustainability courses. Ongoing support is given should it be needed.

This farm has been in the family for more than 100 years, but we have also farmed locally for much, much longer. We have always had livestock here, but today specialise in rare breeds including Berkshire pigs, Norfolk Horn sheep, Longhorn cattle, Suffolk Punch horses and a sprinkle of rare breed poultry like the Old English Pheasant fowl. The main aim of the courses is to give people who are think

ing of keeping livestock - wanting a bit of the "Good Life" factor - but don't know how to go about it, some information on what to do, how to start and how to keep the animals. They are also a day out with a difference for those who have an interest in the animals and purely want an excuse to spend the day interacting with them and learning about their care.

The close of January has seen the arrival of a few more lambs. Keeping themselves tucked up, cosy and dry, out of the rain that has earmarked this past month as being the wettest on record.

πŸ’§ Food for thought…
If the average flush of a modern toilet were to use 6 litres of water
and if your household were to flush the toilet for eg. 15 times in one day,
that is 90 litres of water used for toilet flushing per day.
In light of recent water shortages, a 200 litre rain water butt would see the above calculations through two days of toilet flushing. πŸ’¦πŸŒ§οΈ

The first lamb of 2026 emerged out into the big wide world today. As usual, the first one didn't arrive on the warmest of days, but he is doing well all the same. 😊
