๐ŸŒŸ This week weโ€™ve been celebrating BIVTAโ€™s Vet Tech Week ๐ŸŒŸ

Here at Cheshire Farm Vets, our Farm Vet Techs, Sarah-Jane & Maia play a really important role within our practice; assisting our team vets and farmers daily. From disbudding, mobility scores and vaccination rounds out on farm, to worm egg counts and admin support within the practice they work hard to ensure that our clients & their livestock receive the best care possible.

We hope the campaign this week raises awareness of the role and reminds clients that our Techs do more than just TB test. They are here to assist you with various husbandry tasks or if an extra pair of hands is needed. Just give us a call to book in your Vet Tech time.

Thank you Vet Techs!! ๐ŸŒŸ

๐ŸŒŸ ๐ŸŒŸ This week is BIVTAโ€™s (British & Irish Veterinary Technician Association) Vet Tech Week. ๐ŸŒŸ ๐ŸŒŸ

A week dedicated to raising awareness of the great work our credentialed veterinary technicians do with a focus on their contributions to animal health and their support and assistance to vets and clients alike ๐Ÿ„ ๐Ÿ‘

The disbudding process shown here is made calmer and more efficient for keepers and their cattle where all hands are on deck. Our vet techs play an important role in assisting our vets at knock down disbud appointments leading to a speedy, safe process where high animal welfare standards are ensured for your calves.

๐Ÿ‘ Our vets have been busy with tup MOTs and fertility tests this week. In the face of the bluetongue outbreak this year weโ€™re urging our clients to test before turn out due to the effects the virus can have on fertility ๐Ÿ‘ and to avoid disappointment at scanning and lambing time.

We are currently offering tup fertility tests for a visit fee + ยฃ30 per tup plus VAT.

Contact us today to book your appointment. ๐Ÿ“…

๐Ÿ‘ The National Sheep Association (NSA) is urging sheep farmers to seek veterinary advice on how Bluetongue can affect ram fertility.

Our advice is to test your tups ahead of the breeding season to avoid any disappointment at scanning and lambing. To support our farmers we are offering fertility testing at a reduced rate of ยฃ30+VAT per tup plus a visit fee to check your tups will be able to perform optimally this season.

Please give us a call at the office on 01270 310010 to book your ram fertility testing appointment with us ๐Ÿ‘

๐ŸŒ Senior Vet, Angelica Mazzone PhD MRCVS explains more about Liver Fluke this season in the following article: https://www.cvsfarmvets.co.uk/liver-fluke-the-new-seasonal-challenge/

Although liver fluke is traditionally considered an autumnal disease, the seasonality we have come to associate with it is becoming less predictable. This is largely due to the biology of its intermediate host โ€” the mud snail โ€” combined with increasingly unpredictable and ever-changing weather patterns. In fact, last year we saw acute cases of liver fluke infection as early as mid-April. This is a good reminder that we can no longer rely solely on the calendar when it comes to fluke control. Staying ahead of the game and incorporating fluke monitoring and control into the farm health plan is becoming increasingly important.

Senior Vet Cheshire Farm Vets Dr Angelica Mazzone PhD, MRCVS, explains more in this article: https://www.cvsfarmvets.co.uk/liver-fluke-the-new-seasonal-challenge/
