This is another early record, like last year, a few weeks earlier than average. This will be due to the prolonged heatwave. We may even see a second clutch of hatchlings in September so fingers crossed for a bumper year!

However, we do need rain, invertebrate numbers are dropping due to the heat and lack of rain reducing the amount of suitable food plants. A drop in invertebrate numbers could mean that the sand lizards struggle to find food to fatten up for hibernation.
