Happy International Rabbit Day! 🐇

Today we're celebrating our long-eared friends and reminding owners just how important good rabbit care is.

One of our patients, Max, recently came in to see Naomi the vet for his 6 month health check highlighting the importance of regular health checks, companionship, exercise and a nutritious diet.

👀Pet Eye Health Awareness Week👀

Ron visited us earlier this month for Entropian eye surgery on the upper and lower eyelids of both eyes. Entropian is an eye condition where the eyelids rotate inwards causing irritation to the eye.

Our vet Diane fixed Ron's Entropian and as you can see he is now much happier and more comfortable since having the surgery 💕

Symptoms of Entropian include:
👁Weepy eyes
👁Recurring eye infections
👁Eye ulcers

👀Eye Health Awareness Week👀

Star's Stick Injury 🌟

⚠️⚠️⚠️Please be aware the second picture may be a bit gory ⚠️⚠️⚠️

We wanted to highlight a very common injury, which presented in a very unusual way. Star visited us at the end of Auguat with a very swollen lower eyelid and face. She was sedated and our brilliant vet Sam managed to extract a 3cm long stick from behind her lower eyelid.

Star went home on the same day with some antibiotics and pain medication, and 1 week later she was back to her normal happy self!

This is why it's so important to book in with a vet if you notice any changes to your pets eyes.

The good and the bad ones can look very similar so it's best to keep your pets away from them just to be on the safe side! Symptoms of toxic ingestion can include vomiting, diarrhoea, lethargy, confusion or loss of coordination.

🍁Autumn Hazards🍁

Conkers can cause vomiting and tummy upsets if eaten and may also present a choking hazard 😯

Dogs will often eat fallen fruits, and with conkers, this can cause gastrointestinal obstruction - which we want to avoid! Keep an eye on your pets and give us a ring on 01925 752721 if you are concerned.

🍁Autumn Hazards🍁

Throughout September and October, we'll be highlighting some common Autumn hazards that you may not have been aware of!

Rat Poison is a common hazard throughout the year but even more so during the colder months. Rat poison is intentionally palatable, smelling, and tasting sweet to all animals, not just rats! Rat Poison can cause serious internal injury and can be fatal if left untreated. If you think your pet has come into contact with or ingested rat potion, please call the practice on 01925 752721 to book an appointment with a vet.
